Why Can't we Remake the Rocketdyne F1 Engine?
🕑 Added 2018-07-24 15:55:06 +0000 UTC Ever wondered why NASA dont just bring back the F-1 engine when they want a big dumb but yet reliable, tried and tested booster engine, in this video we look at what happened when they tried exactly that for the SLS.

The F-1 is one of my favorite technological interests, so I would have preferred a 4-hour long format... :-) Excellent research and explanations. You were spot on about the F-1 being a 'simple' engine, but a pain to manufacture. The statement you made about part reduction using today's manufacturing methods (like 3D printing) deserves a deeper dive, if only for my selfish gratification.

You could use the short format for some occasions, but I feel I wanted to know a bit more about this subject. Also: you could experiment with adding some personal notes; TechMoan and 8 BitGuy do it... You would have to find your own angle of course! I'm fascinated by the space era, because my dad was. He told me everything about it. I even had space LEGO! The subtitles on the beginnen gave the video a fresh feel (like when musicians within a number move 1 key up). However, it's too much info for the beginning as it distracts a bit, I guess. But I like you are experimenting...
