We're only a few days in and Mystery is already exhausted!
As the Holidays wrap up, we're hoping to get back in the swing of things!
We still got those BGs to get underway and we're just about to get started on animating the last remaining shot left.
So I didn't think this year was going to be the Year of the Snake.
As such, it seemed way too good of an opportunity to do something with the Deadbeats, who are already 90% snake as it is.
As something else I'm just kind of throwing in here on the side, I figured I should post these character sprites I've been tinkering with for the last month. Again, I had no idea it was Year of the Snake, and that I had been doing sprite for a snake character seemed too on-the-nose to not show them off for it.
This isn't some sort of "Ben is working on a video game!!!" post or anything, to be clear. I am just gearing up to learn some game engine stuff (Godot, specifically), and I'm at the veeeeeery beginning of that process. The character is just meant to be for testing, so nothing real involved is going to come of it.
Anyhow, I hope this year goes as smoothly as it can for everyone, and we hope to get some fun stuff to share with ya'll this year!

"This character is just for testing" and as a result, it shall eventually end up as an easter egg, hidden behind some ridiculously complicated mechanics known only as... the lever puzzle.

Even if it's just the smallest download with only like 1-5 levels and one boss monster, I would still play the heck out of an experimental game you made. Especially since the sprites are just so high quality!!! It just looks really fun and intriguing. Love to see Monster Mystery, Happy New Year! 🥳
