Elves vs Goblins: 95-99
🕑 Added 2025-08-25 07:00:04 +0000 UTCIn the thick of the fighting, Angharad tramples the body of the first Goblin she has slain and strikes another to the ground with her strong shield. As it struggles to rise, she runs the tip of her Elven-forged blade through the gaps in it’s rusty armour. A young Knight called Betsan is less skilled: A jagged Goblin blade slips low in the confused melee, past her guard, driving deep into her bowels. Her simple leather corset, flexible and light, offers little protection against such a savage blow. Her rich, Elven blood gushes out to water Loren’s sacred soil.
Sprawled in the mud and scrubby grass, Dwysil grinds her teeth and bites back a scream of pain as a cruel Goblin, smirking and sneering, forces the point of its spear with both hands through the thick leather of her bodice and into the pristine, perfect Elven flesh beneath. The heels of her boots dig into soft mud, her gloved hands clutching at the rough haft of the spear, pushing feebly at the leering face of her killer. As the blade withdraws she can not help but cry out, broken and dying, defeated and helpless.
Laughing triumphantly, the foul creature swings its spear, still wet with Dwysil’s life-blood, to stab at Eilian as she steps over the fallen body of her first foe. Her blade moves swiftly to block the clumsy thrust, and the vile creature has the briefest of moments to appreciate it’s predicament before bright Elven steel thrusts home beneath it’s chin to end it’s sordid existence.
Left behind in the dirt, Dwysil clutches her pierced belly and coughs blood, doomed to a slow and lingering death by the ancient bargain of her people.

These EvG battle scenes are well-posed and choreographed, as evidenced by the Dwysil-to-Eilian sequence. It is amazing to see the progression of action take place amid the chaos of the greater battle around them. I admire your attention to detail. Pic 97 speaks to me deeply, (beyond the perfection of the composition,) seeing the pure beauty of Dwysil juxtaposed with the hideous Goblin, accentuated by the golden light on her face vs the dark shadows on his, is the very illustration of the fight of good vs evil. Watching something so beautiful and pure suffer so terribly at the hands of repulsive evil stirs a philosophical and perhaps even a theological anger deep inside me. I think it has a lot to do with the intimacy of this defeat; it is not like a random arrow or spear thrust from a distance. That, and the way their eyes are locked on one another. Dwysil has to push the Goblin's leering face away to prevent him from seeing into her soul and feeding on her anguish. You have done something amazing, Bodak, to be able to touch me this deeply with your artwork, and I thank you.

After speaking Dwysil, the Goblin soldier grew cocky and proud as it searched for its next victim. It sees its next target, a young Elven infantrywoman named Eilian, who steps forward toward it as well, aiming her blade towards it. The creature aims its spear towards Eilian's neck, but the blonde Elven swiftly blocks it with her sword. She quickly turns her sword around toward the Goblin neck and immediately stabs it. "For Dwysil, you filthy thing!!" Eilian shouts as she drives her sword deep inside the Goblin's neck, putting a swift end towards its evil life....
