Extended Interview: Lauren Manoogian

Lauren Manoogian is part of an elite group of brands that can only be understood when felt and worn. When we interview must-be-touched-to-be-understood brands, we try to dig as deeply as possible into the technicalities of process. There's a wellspring of those technical details here. Fascinating stuff.

Never ceases to amaze me how many different ways cotton can be processed and made to look so different. I wonder sometimes if it is truly such a uniquely all-around fabric or if it is simply the one that is the cheapest to experiment with and so people come up with crazier and crazier ways to process it. An interesting mind experiment of what could silk for example become if it could be produced in such large quantities and without the associated cruelty to the animals.
