I tend to take comedic moments as a sign that a character is likely to stay since one-off characters usually don't get any casual scenes, so I'm conflicted about Gorutiel. He's entertaining, but I really don't trust him. I've said the same thing about Omi, but Omi never went out of her way to target people who were far weaker than her, and perhaps more importantly, her advancement isn't contingent on draining the strength of others. Even in her most ruthless moments, there was always a chance she could turn her impressions around. I can't say the same for Gorutiel. He has too many traits working against him for me to like the idea of him being some long-term ally. Then again, maybe he can prove me wrong. One former villain already did. I'm a bit disappointed that Ceryyn has been relegated only to bringer of bad news or new quests. I would've liked to see some character-building scenes. She's mentioned having similar ideals to Kai, but she's clearly not naìve. How does she view the complexities of her position in elven society and Rosemount as a whole? What does she deem necessary for improving her world and, more importantly, what lines won't she cross? Questions like that. There are still opportunities for that if she'll be fighting in the frontlines alongside the trio, but I admit, as funny as it is as a sort of gag, I'm finding it repetitive now. But wow, so the trio may be fighting in the great war, huh. Technically, the revolution in Krysal was a war, but the climax mostly focused on one battle - the most important battle of the conflict, but just one battle regardless. Given Rosemount's more volatile politics, multiple factions, and the far higher bar of Power involved, whatever fight the trio gets into is going to be far more chaotic. I'm excited for it, but at the same time, I do agree with Kai that there doesn't seem to be a good reason to do so. What else can the elves really give them? With the amount of help they've already given, they can probably ask for boons for a long time, and the elders would be honor-bound to comply. I had hopes for the Krysali revolution to have a far more complex and longer coverage of the many battles that occurred, but I understand why they were streamlined for the Battle of Yulthens. However, this great war may be what I'd been looking for. The factions have already been setup, and each of them have their own sub-factions that make things even more complicated. I'd love to see a conflict where most if not all of them are relevant in some way or another, with fighting in multiple fronts and everything.
