Lol. Surely fate can't be that cruel.

Runcible Technician

I keep waiting for one of the people he meets to regretfully tell him that he naturally processes chakra at the lowest possible level and that he can only follow the worker chakra path.

I keep forgetting how insane Kai's growth is. When I saw the Banchlain was "just" Eta, my first thought was that it shouldn't be too difficult for him given how strong he's become since the Myogenecon. But for most other people, an Eta-level monster is enough to make it almost a legend of sorts. It makes me wonder what it'll be like in the bigger cities of Rosemount. There'll definitely be stronger people there, and perhaps a few ridiculous monsters. I'm guessing the trio will be fighting Iota (IX) or maybe even Kappa (X)-level monsters before the book ends. Chakra seems to be like, the 'essence' of concepts? Maybe I'm focusing on the emotions associated with it too much. When Kai was drinking the chakra wine, which was made to increase power, it felt like someone "bottled a roaring battlecry." When financial regulators like the Commonwealth evaluate currencies, they employ specialists on 'golden' essences. Chakra seems to alter the very concept of what something is, or something close to that, at least. Which fits soul cultivation quite well. I knew it couldn't have mainly been cultivation, even if the first soul cultivator we saw was using qi attacks, but surprisingly, it looks like chakra is what allows the elves to cultivate their souls directly. But it does make sense if chakra really does alter conceptual 'essences'. The total sum of any person's essence seem to be embedded within their soul. If one can alter the soul, they can cultivate their very essence directly, which chakra can definitely facilitate. The Banchlain's chakra-fueled fear attacks were also countered by the elves' souls, which further proves that they were cultivated through chakra. As a side note, I love how the trope of all elves being beautiful is explained through soul cultivation lol. This implies some very interesting things for ZZN if I'm understanding correctly. The Final Maiden is a cultivator through and through, and yet she also seems to have undergone soul cultivation as well, to the extent that gods like her would have. That means standard and soul cultivation can coexist - hell, perhaps even essential to reach the highest echelons of cultivation. I think the chapter just revealed what chakra-based power ZZN will focus on in Rosemount. I'm very interested in seeing how soul cultivation interacts with her mana-qi fused abilities.
