It just occurred to me that you can substitute the trio's drive to become stronger at the expense of a normal life for a writer's drive to keep creating as long as they can, likely often at the same expense as well. I wonder if that came from a more personal place than at first glance.

The series has been better than ever! I definitely can't put it down now. Maybe when it's no longer financially viable or something lol, but barring something unexpected, I don't see that happening at all. Even if it does, you'll just see me on RR! The only reason I haven't been leaving a long comment in every chapter is that life has gotten so busy recently. I have a bit of a free period right now, but it'll be over shortly. Might as well make the most of it! Thanks for checking in!

And here I thought I shocked you into leaving only a short comment for once. But really, glad you're still so engaged.

Arramos has already mentioned some of my main thoughts, but there's one thing I've always noticed. In any other world, I would also tell Raghi to just settle down if he wants to. It'd be our equivalent of telling an engineer or chemist to retire after they'd saved up, especially if their careers clearly aren't lifelong, almost obsessive passions. I'd admire it even. Not everyone has the ability to admit to themselves they actually want to settle down. But this is the world of Depthless Hunger, where your worth is practically dictated by your stats and anyone with just over 100-200 Power than you can almost certainly crush you like it's nothing. Personally speaking, and personal skills aside, I can't see myself stopping at just 100-200, even 300 Power if I had the opportunity to become more powerful. There are entire continents where the 500-700 Power people to whom I'd be nothing are themselves nothing but ants to their equivalent of emperors. Even if I had a utility-based power like Juray's Herbalist Class, my strength is still measured by my overall Power. This seems to be a world where you either shape yourself for combat, for the use of those who engage in combat, or wither away to likely be killed by a monster somewhere. The way I see it, you have no choice but to keep training. The power systems you live under are too geared towards combat. I can see a Class that, say, passively increases intelligence to have some interesting non-combat uses, but it'll still be measured in Power. You just can't escape the need for power and Power. I suppose that's the main limitation of the story's power system. 95% of the people we've seen are seemingly geared towards fighting and war. Perhaps there are plans for it, but I'd love to see an example of someone who stayed at the lower rung of Power, and was actually better off for it. I don't mean in just a personal fulfillment kind of way, but also politically socially, maybe even physically. Honestly, I would've likely told Raghi that he should keep training a lot longer if I was in Kai's shoes, simply because not doing so, however irrationally, feels like a death sentence. It's a cruel world.

Tusquo is WHAT?

Arramos

Raghi and Kai having a real talk. I'm reminded of Aglahai's parting words: "At some point, you just get full up. You don't want it enough and you can't keep pushing yourself. I don't know what to tell you about life, but I'll say this: either find somewhere you can marry somebody nice, or stay hungry. Do both and you'll just end up like me." It's been a running theme that the pursuit of power means leaving everything else behind. Homes, communities, friends, and lovers, traded for grueling effort and suffering. It's often a lonely path, because it's one few people would choose - but Kai isn't alone. He just get out of his head and pursue them, the same way he's pursued his dreams since Monskon City.
