Memories are interesting things. You can fully and absolutely remember something you know didn't happen that way. The logic of knowing that the memory is wrong doesn't override it or make it feel less real.

Yeah, it's weird how e.g. crying and laughter can sound so similar for a moment and it's not clear which is happening until the sound "resolves" in your ears... Poor doggy.
