The 2 uses limit is consecutive, so after X amount of time he can use it twice again, w/ 3rd potentially being lethal (hard to test if that's rly a hard limit or not, when you go by gut feel based on how much mana using it twice uses). So w/ each of the 7 boogaloos, he can at most use the 4th Spellblade twice, after that it's RNG based what will happen, this is pretty much the price of using borrowed power (i.e not being the Creator of a Spellblade, but merely using someone else's technique, as it's not 100% compatible w/ you if you aren't the Creator, mana wavelength etc traits wise. He can pretty much only use it due to being mom's direct descendant, albeit in this handicapped way)

I didn't think it was extremely obvious that he was there for revenge, but I agree it was executed well.

LN and manga reader here. I think this episode did a great job. Taking 6 episodes for a volume instead of 4 really helped this series, imo. Wish more anime took this kind of time.
