Defining ability : Hoard
Dragons are naturally greedy towards items of high Mana density, especially metals. By hoarding and slowly eating them during bouts of hibernations dragons can permanently increase their Stats. Different Stats can be targeted for increase by eating specific treasures.
While Hoard is among the strongest Stat gain racial abilities known it is also one of the slowest taking centuries to work. Furthermore a dragon’s sanity can start to suffer if they rely on this ability for growing their power while not growing in levels and developing their Skills. Their greed and impulse control start to slip and they become impatient and rash when not holed up among their treasures.
Known weakness : Dragons don’t have any widespread known weakness, their individuality and variety of builds leads to weaknesses being more on an individual basis. Pride and ego can be exploited especially in younger and less experienced dragons.
Most dragons do have access to a powerful breath attack based on their dominant element. The attack while devastating in terms of power is usually easily predictable and may present a moment of vulnerability.
Appearance :
Dragons are large winged lizards with powerful scales, claws and teeth. As their stats increase dragons grow in size with the scales, claws and even eyes capable of changes depending on the amount as well as the specifics consumed through their defining ability.
Few dragons can shapeshift naturally though most gain the ability to do so, as they grow in power however the ability becomes more frequent with most dragons above level three hundred having access to it.
Behaviour : Solitary and territorial
Dragons spend most of their lives curled around their treasure inside of hidden well defended places they decided to call home. Dragons are by far the race with the highest natural lifespan. The average dragon would have as many years being active as the average hydra on top of three times as long sleeping with its hoard.
Outside of mating dragons are wary of their own kind, their continuous search for treasure to add to their horde makes them the greatest threat to each other. This natural hostility among their own people has led dragons to be one of the few Ascended races with no central leader, instead multiple factions under different dragon ‘emperors’ have formed.
While dragons are one of the less numerous races, their ease of access to power through dungeon delves often leads to most dragons growing to at least level two hundred and fifty and most even far beyond that. Due to their power and long life dragons have few conflicts with other races, most inconveniences being dealt with by ignoring them and hibernating to grow in power while the inconvenience dies off.
Power and build differences :
As a result of their hoard ability most dragons have a high amount of physical Stats, these being more often found in metal and ore leading to large and powerful bodies. From that baseline dragons choose their own focus with some dedicating their Free points and Skills to magic while others focus further of physical stats, though almost no dragons focus on speed, choosing instead Strength and Endurance.
Advised kill method :
For a quick kill try and make use of a dragon’s greed and pride to get them to challenge a much stronger being, baiting with powerful treasure. Be aware most beings capable of killing a dragon are smart enough to figure out what you are doing or bloodthirsty enough to kill you for approaching them/
If time is not of the essence, Curses are an ideal way to deal with dragons as it is one of the few things their Hoard ability does nothing to protect them from, leading to a cursed object added to a dragon’s hoard slowly killing the dragon as it hibernates.

They don't get stat bonuses from delving but they can gather a lot of high Mana density valuables from high floors and spend a century and half draining them of power on the floor.

Not only the treasure Ajax secured from the dungeon, but also that metal guarded by that giant mole can be offered up to dragons...I'm suspecting that the gem is vastly more powerful, given its exit destabilized the entire dungeon. It's got to be significantly important... I suspect a mana gem containing a Mythic affinity. 🤯🤯 While dragons are one of the less numerous races, their ease of access to power through dungeon delves often leads to most dragons growing to at least level two hundred and fifty and most even far beyond that. Eeeepppp! They have the same incredibly easy way to gain power as humanoids do?! That's...cheating! So far the Ascended we've met have had only the natural stats they're born with, because they're Ascended...massive beginning stats. But dragons get their racial stat bonuses AND the stat bonuses from Delving?! ARE YOU KIDDING?! 😡🤬 leading to a cursed object added to a dragon’s hoard slowly killing the dragon as it hibernates. And we get another hint...that the gem Ajax has gathered might be cursed. Sigh. Just when we thought we got a hint of Keleros's next plot twist, he hits with a curve ball. 😂🤣😂🤣
