An Announcement Regarding This Week's Schedule

I am genuinely unsure of how to phrase this in a way that is respectful to the patience, kindness, and support you’ve all shown me. I feel terrible for having to announce this but I feel like I need one more week to finish the upcoming chapter.
I’ve been overwhelmed over the past few weeks with both the practical and emotional responsibilities I needed to undertake following my grandmother’s passing. I generally prefer to keep my affairs private but I want to at least provide some context for what’s been going on.
As a result of local traditions and beliefs, the entire funeral needed to be prepared literally on the night and ensuing days of my grandmother’s passing, such that her funeral was held within a week of her passing. The funeral itself took three days, plus an additional cremation day, and another day where we scattered her ashes in accordance with local Buddhist beliefs.
I took all of my available sick-leave for that week, and the week following included me taking on shifts to compensate for my absence from the hospital.
On top of this was, and still is, a lot of practical and emotional affairs I have to handle with my family on my mother’s side.
It was a result of all of this that I found I had less time and less energy to finish the chapter. I take great care in ensuring that each chapter is up to the standards that each and every one of you guys deserve, which is why I believe I need more time to properly finish and polish this chapter, such that it lives up to the quality I would be happy with posting.
However, in spite of this, I was able to write just about half of the chapter, so unlike most of my typical work in progress (WiPs) posts (which typically accounts for around a quarter of the chapter prior to the day of posting), I’m posting all of what I have for the chapter currently for all of you to see! :)
I will be returning to the typical post schedule next week for Wearing Power Armor to a Magic School, and the week after for Humans Don’t Hibernate.
I am also going to be finishing the bonus story for the commissioned pioneer tier hopefully next week.
Again, I am genuinely sorry about this, guys.
This entire situation was just way more intense than what I could’ve ever anticipated.

Going to be honest, most of the writers i follow are awful at constant posting. To the point one posts less then half as often as they try to, and another is like 7 chapters behind where they said they would be on Patreon (not to mention they would be like 50 something behind from missed chapters over the last year if they didn't stop posting to RR until they got Patreon more chapters...). Of the 6 authors i actively check for updates your one of two who actually post constantly, and the other had a short hiatus (with warning) themself not long ago. not to mention the two or so dozen i check now and then to binge read when there is a few chapters, who post so infrequently that id go mad waiting if i didn't do that. What im saying badly is, you do awesome, well past any hopes i and im sure others her have for your postings. If you need a week, two, or heck even a month, i and im sure most of us here would not hold it against you in the slightest. This isn't a job for you (at least it should not be...) its a hobby, one we are invested in supporting, and part of that support is wanting whats best for you mentally and emotionally.

I sub to incentivise your writing. If you can't write the story right now, then that's that. What are we going to do, get someone else to write it? 😝 Pushing the schedule back by a week or four isn't going to make a difference in the long run, don't sweat it.

Creativity hates being rushed. That is true even WITHOUT relatives fighting over what's in passed relatives Will and the people at work judging you for being distracted and often absent. The world is cruel and sad and uncaring... But I will NOT be like the world at large. You deserve all the kindness and patience and appreciation I can muster! Take your time. Put things in order. Be the best version of yourself you can be. And don't give up. I certainly won't! :)

Take as much time as you need. And your break was far shorter than anything I and many others would have needed anyway, one more week, or a few more, arent important, never feel bad for that. If you had been writing to take your mind of things for a moment, sure I wouldn't have complained. (Actually maybe I would have, because: Take care of yourself!) But everything else comes first. No need to justify it or anything like that. On another note: It seems like a travesty that there's a maximum sick-leave per week. I mean... I understand that they want to have a certain reliability to maintain adequate care, but people working there aren't just going to not come if they know it'd hurt the patients. And if you're not well then you aren't, even if it's "just" wrong mental state because something bad enough happened.

Remember, if you feel the responsibility getting to you, you can always temporarily turn off payment for a month. It's the easiest way to show sincerity if you feel the need. I can at least say, I will still support you in your time of need. If anyone doesn't have the same sentiment, they can always stop paying for awhile

My friend; I went through the same thing with my atheist adjacent mother-in-law this year. It took a solid 3 days just to handle the business and not the rituals Now we’re dealing with all her theist relatives. I totally get it. Make sure this remains your passion and not your obligation. The quality will tank if you feel pressed and I know I don’t want that.
