Yes, and I'm one of those inquiring minds. Though the fission destruct system seems more over concerns that an otherwise inert reactor falls into the water, and the moderating effects of H2O makes the blasted reactor go critical.

That entry about the Engine Destruct systems made me wonder what the failure modes are for fusion reactors and fusion drives. For inertial fusion, nothing much but pellets bouncing around and plasma fusion is already "exploding" at peak efficiency, so what would happen when one them fails? Inquiring minds want to know?!
