!-Warning: Textwall-! I had this unpleasant realization, comparing Ash being forever 10 in the anime and Vicky not growing... I obviously have no idea where the story is going to go, but at least *looking* like you are 10 has the potential to a lot of anime-like developments. It could circumvent some age related deadline that are region specific. She probably won't fake her passport, but she has a lot of chips to make governments do an exception or two. Especially if she promises to cosplay a bit. Also, when is she meeting Bill? Could be a fun April 1. post, if nothing else. :) Another point that I keep noticing in the background is that Vicky's pokemon seem to have lost some of their purpose? Not sure how to explain it. During a lot of the early chapters everyone had a unique big goal. So the point of the story seemed to have Vicky manage the cooperation of everyone to achieve everyone's goal. Like making 1+1=3. Noticing problems/road blocks and getting a third party to point it out or help overcome it. Now it seems a lot of her old team already mostly achieved their goals? Or at least developed the habits to achieve it one day? So there aren't any more problems or roadblocks there except it taking some time? It feels as if they finished their story and only need to write it down. That's not really exciting to read. I think the closer the old team gets to believing that their dream fulfilment is only a matter of time, the more they could think about the future? What will happen after? Maybe a hobby or passion? Or even a struggle to find one? Some Restlessness? I was always a bit confused about Chansey/Blissey, because some of her actions didn't seem right. Like she wanted to do something, but gave it up/postponed it for Vicky's dream. Maybe go back to the Joy's and train other Chansey? Basically, some more character development for the older pokemon would introduce more goals/problems for Vicky to find/manage in a way that aligns everyone's efforts. It would also make them feel less of just game-pokemon that are more like things/slaves to do battle with. Like the feeling I sometimes get when Vicky complains of someone stealing *her* pokemon, even if said pokemon is the one profiting from being *stolen*. It feels as if she gets annoyed that they get to have a life outside of her influence? I am not sure I am explaining it right. Arcanine wants to be stronger for example. That's fine, but why? What if she wants something that can't be gained no matter how strong she gets? What about Gyarados? He already achieved his dream, it seems. Though he's still very young and wants attention. What happens when he grows up and does not *need* it anymore? If he doesn't feel as lonely anymore, because he instinctively knows that he is never alone for example? Will he look outside of himself and see how the world treats Magicarp and other Gyarados? Will he want to change it? Milotic could be confronted with the ugly politics of growing a Kanto Dragonite clan and have an internal conflict between being lazy and doing work to protect his family, leveraging his status somehow? Lots of exiting posibilities, because of the nice foundational set-ups already written. :) I just hope that an apocalyptic crisis won't be the only option left to spice things up, since Vicky seemingly not being the main character is kinda exciting to read. Edit: Awesome chapter by the way. The last ones really got the momentum towards something rolling again. :)
