Now we're onto a lengthy stretch of absolute doldrums, beginning with this notorious dud. Although it wasn't as completely wretched as I expected? Waterworld for Virtual Boy ain't great, but it's tolerably playable, which is more than I can say for Virtual League Baseball. I know, a Virtual Boy game based on Waterworld should be a perfect storm of garbage. I guess this game was so awful that wasn't even good at being the absolutely worst?

It's reminiscent of Defender in that you're trying to protect civilians from being captured. The captors even flash once they've completed an abduction.

You mention the similarity the game play has to defender, but watching the footage it appears to be more like a Spectre clone. Is there a distinguishing game play element there that makes that comparison inappropriate?

Ah, I think you missed all the release info in the video proper - it just brings up a December 95 Japan release date, but nothing for the US.
