Rubber Force Sixx #003
🕑 Added 2019-10-28 07:36:09 +0000 UTCI'm not really happy with how this one turned out. I wanted to do an actual background for these panels but as Friday's nonsense cut into my penciling time, I had to wing it. Apologies for the crap backgrounds here everyone.
Sixx started out with orange-ish red hair here, in addition to the freckles. In this universe she's full-on Irish and I wanted to reflect that but... she just didn't look right without her fiery red hair. And for those wondering about the first panel... I shouldn't spoil, but I'm gonna go ahead and confirm that she is this universe's Ginger.
Expect Trina to look a bit different as well. This helps me keep the two universes I draw easily recognizable (I hope). And one last detail, the suit Ginger is wearing is very much RF6's own Heavysuit model~ Because I genuinely love that thing~
Lastly, if you take a look at the untexted version you'll see fuller panels for panel 1 and 2. I felt like the energy flowed better when I letterboxed them in the final strip. I hope I made the right choice, I'm not always sure.
This is the last free one from this series I'm afraid. The next one (due next week) will be unfortunately locked behind the 5$ pay wall because I have to pay bills and this is the only thing I'm (sorta) good at. I'm amazed at how many of you already leapt on board that already and good heavens I can't tell you how grateful I am. Thank you for keeping me fed and housed everyone. Love y'all. <3

Well now, both Ginger and Michelle certainly look a lot different from how they’d look in the Collar 6 universe, don’t they… Especially Ginger, given the fact her hair’s black instead of green and we didn’t get to see what her eyes look like now; would the traces of green on her own suit been the only hint about who she actually is, had we not gotten some direct confirmation about it from you earlier on? And we also get a little lore about what exactly is causing these latex blobs to become animated and attach to a victim (I am still not totally clear on just how they might be selecting their targets though [unless it’s simply the case that somebody gets a just little too close to where a dormant blob is and they become active] and just why exactly these things are doing so [maybe they need certain things from their targets]; but we might get these answers in a later comic), with them also creating living rubber suits which coat most of the victims’ bodies (while letting them breath freely, which clearly indicates these things need to keep their victims alive, probably to produce what they need to make more copies of themselves): this source being an extremely small core which needs to be separated from the latex which it is controlling and then destroyed (with the second part of this task seemingly easy enough, given just how fragile it appears to be), in order to take care of the problem for good. Of course, another issue which will hopefully be answered at some point, is who or what might have been responsible for actually creating all these things in the first place and then released them on an unsuspecting public; it could well be the case that two different people or groups were responsible! Now there should be only one member of the core team (if we’re going by how the groups were set up in Collar 6, since we might get thrown a potential curveball here) who we have yet to see even a hint of: Trina… Wonder how she looks and what her role in the team might be? My current guess is that she’s the second in command (given that Michelle’s an experienced squad leader, while Laura’s seemingly a rookie who’s only recently joined up with the team and Ginger seems to be somewhere between Laura and Michelle, with her having a role and call sign, but she follows Michelle’s orders) and potentially the team’s sniper, since the group as it currently stands seems to be lacking in both long range options and dealing with multiple targets; which might give them some issues if there is more than one victim, or they can’t get close enough to pull off the same tactic that they used here. But I guess that we’ll just have to wait and see what the truth actually is, when the next comic comes out; along with seeing what sort of roles all the other characters might have in this universe, maybe Nora might be the one in overall command, while Evita’s a squad leader too and a rival of Michelle’s!

The idea originally was that Sixx wore a Judiciatrix-style outfit and shot out some kind of infrared blast that incinerated them but I wound up changing a lot of story stuff.

It is a bit unusual to see Sixx with wavy hair as opposed to her straight length style.

So the enemy are crystal creatures in rubber blobs that take human hosts. Good call giving them a weak point. Ofcourse I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the team.

Minor coloring error (I think) -- panel 3 Sixx seems to be stamping on the blue thing with her left leg, which seems to have a red stripe running up the back of it. Panel 4 seems to not have that stripe up the back of her leg (which might otherwise make it the right leg, which appears to not have such a red stripe up the back), suggestion if you can fix is to add the red stripe on the back of the leg on panel 4 (unless you want to claim that the stripe is there just not visible from the angle we're viewing it...)

Sixx with freckles.... very different. Just a small detail like that and it’s like a whole new character. And we have a name for the blobs which explains why they went after Laura when she started to...er....enjoy herself..
