Battle Angel Alita

Rosa Salazar and Christoph Waltz should get Oscars. Actually everyone's performance was incredibly good. I'm not used to seeing that in a big budget movie.

I loved the movie. The love interest was a bit horrible, but he was horrible in the manga too. Sometimes being true to the source is a thorny path.
Haha so true!

The way they made him pronounce "Panzerkunst" must have made his heart bleed though...

Minor spoilers ahead: Things like Duke(the dog)'s death and no Koyomi (baby captured by Makaku(now called Grewishka)) do make me a bit sad. Who will show us the noble side of the Barjack in the next movies? The plasma sword was also a contrived and unneeded prop IMHO, like you need laser swords in your sci-fi to be cool....

I expected this to be annoying, but it really wasn't distracting or all that weird, IMHO.

I'm a Long time reader of the Manga and I just watched it last night, I too had low expectations and was relatively happy with it, Though there were so many changes to the story it is a different story, the atmosphere was captured fairly well. That said I felt there were far too few Cybers on the streets. A scene with someone being converted to cyber on the street was also one of those hings that set the tone in the Manga That was a little lacking in the movie IMHO. Pretty much all cybers are hunter-warriors, or bad guys, very few background characters seemed to be cyber. Will go back to see it again to see what I missed the first time.
Waltz was so good. That casting made me happy.
Watch it in IMAX 3D! Definitely worth the money.

That's what you get from a labor of love. Sadly, my spouse won't be able to see it - he gets naseous when he looks at the uncanny valley big eye effect on the commercials.
