Collar(ed)6 II #02 - Rough Pencils

Kinda thought Monday was the first, not today, so uh, I'm still in the pencils phase of working here. I kept wobbling between working on the next Collar d6 and the Collar(ed)6 II page and because I can't stand the idea that I can't produce this damn strip, I settled on continuing work on Collar(ed)6 II, which I plan to have finished and up this week at some point.
Going forward with comics and art making I'm a bit at a loss as to what to do. I am increasingly frustrated drawing mainline C6 as it's become this sort of portrait of who I was at a certain point in my life and not entirely who I am today (don't get me wrong, I'm still a rubber bondage fetishist). There's a lot of stuff in the story I just don't like, especially the early stuff (and even a good deal of what's happening in the pony arc). As I've said before, it's just stopped being fun.
A lot of the times I wish I could reset things back to the original almost Saturday morning cartoon vibes I had going on where it wasn't really serious and didn't have these long periods of just people standing around explaining lore. It over-complicates things and takes away from what it should be: A fun escapist bondage romp. I guess I've done so many spin-offs because I've been trying to find that same groove again, but aside from Collar d6 (which surprisingly turned out to be one of the spin-offs y'all seem to like the most), none of them really went anywhere.
I've considered a soft reboot for a long time now and it's still something I'm considering. Though even if I went that route I'd still continue making OG C6 strips, just... no longer my focus. And when I say 'soft reboot' I mean I'd take the same cast and drop them into various situations. House Sixx, House Butterfly, House Blackstone all just bumping into each other and having bondage-focused antics and conflicts, without the fate of the world at stake. Just... fun.
What do y'all think of that notion?
Now for the real talk segment. I've started therapy and it's been decided I need to see said therapist three times a week, which was surprising to me. If it weren't for medicaid I couldn't afford this so thank god they put me on that after my last hospitalization. My disability case is still up in the air right now, but my primary care doctor is backing me in my pursuit. I'm told my mental illness (borderline personality disorder, coupled with major depressive disorder and complex ptsd) is very serious. Certainly it has made my life and more recently creating art very difficult. I apologize if it sounds like I'm making excuses for the content drought, I'm just trying to be transparent since y'all keep me housed and fed.
I'll be back this week first with the inks for this page (which still has some cleaning up to do pencils-wise) and the final, coloured and texted strip. Thank you sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much for sticking around everyone. After last month's absence I didn't expect to have any readers left. At all. There's not enough thank yous in the world to really convey my gratitude. So instead I'll do my best to produce better quality stuff for y'all moving forward. Thank you again everyone. Love y'all.

Yeah. Much less nerdy these days. You can find almost literally hundreds of dnd campaigns played by streamers and the like. And most of the podcast/twitch streams are backed up to youtube and spotify as stuff you can listen too. It's good to see. Especially with so much *less* dnd hate coming from churches hating on it. Still happens just not like it used to

Thank you Cronchysami, I'm definitely happy to finally have access to help and support after so many years of just trying to get by on my own. And the idea behind the reboot is exactly as you've described it! Take the good, drop the bad and make something that reflects my values today rather than those of a me from almost two decades ago~

All very good points JJ and I appreciate the thought put into them. I *am* going forward with the reboot but I don't plan to treat it as such. So no big exposition pages explaining the universe or the setting, just fetishy fun that shows rather than tells.

Hehe, I did indeed take your advice and it helped greatly, thank you~ And yeah, tabletop gaming really *is* en vogue these days and I never seem to realize that. I came from the AD&D/2nd Ed era where it was nerdstuff so I guess I'm still always expecting it to be seen much the same today which it clearly ain't~

I like the idea of a fun reboot. The Blackstone ark has been really stressful for you and it’s shown over the past couple years. I like the magic, the dominance and submission and switch variants, the rubbermancy and so forth. So I’d like to see that stay cause it’s so fun, adds a fantasy element I enjoy.

For the mainline Collar 6 story, give us a text summary of what will happen if you continued to draw it. Finish up the story line that way. Then put it away, it will be done. Focus on a different story that is not stressful to create. Or just do one-off strips (or two-off since sometimes you need to break what you want to do into two updates). The main storyline has caused you enough problems, time to end it.

I like your art very, very much and will stay with you, no matter how you decide to handle your curren question. ++ I like the idea of light-hearted bondage/latex/fetish strip and stories. + I like your world and that you've built up a setting for your stories. - Starting fresh in a new world would require not much lore but enough to be noticed negativly (by eating up pannels). -- I despise soft reboots with all fibers of my mind. Establishing new characters in the same world would allow the same without breaking continuety. Greetings Juy Juka

A soft reboot sounds fun. Especially if it helps our dear creator out in the end. Taking care of what you need from it, especially while doing therapy, is the best you can do and we all understand. I can see from your sketches you took my advice on pipes. Glas I could help there. And you underestimate the power of dnd if collar d6 popularity shocks you. Hardly anyone does kinky dnd stuff. So it's amazing to see. Even more so from a creator dnd lovers already enjoy

A soft reboot sounds like a good idea, yeah. I love the characters and your art style, and I think seeing them in a more low-stakes story would be enjoyable. Hope the therapy goes well. Managing/maintaining good mental health can definitely be challenging, but I have faith in you <3

Hopefully your additional support is helpful. I'd be just fine with a soft reboot myself and just enjoying scenarios and setups with your characters that you find inspiring and fun in the moment. I'm more interested in bondage-focused antics than world saving, myself.

I've always enjoyed the art you draw, if you decided to focus more on light hearted low stakes kinky comics, I would still be onboard. I do like the current run, especially the ponygirl arc with Blackstone but I would prefer to see you make the art that you want to make. I hope time away has been good for you, everyone needs a holiday every now and again. And I hope the therapy goes well for you.
