Although, the museum was so wacky that people regularly lost their minds in all sorts of ways, so I do wonder how common this actually is. Can anyone who's worked thru a fire comment on the audacity of their customers? for science.

Reading this basically happened at SD comic con this year where they had the evacuation sound for a fire and while people were evacuating there were SOOOO many of them just staying where they were and more walking in, it was honestly insane to me

Ours WAS!! Like ear-piercingly loud and super high pitched. I couldn’t believe how many people could scream over it to demand a refund (I do not have a cash register on my person)

My museum’s solution is to make the fire alarm noise so piercing and unpleasant that the whole indoors becomes incompatible with human enjoyment. A series of powerful strobe lights are used to annoy any deaf visitors as well. It works! I hate it!!

People love to try to steal things during fires as well. Not quite the same but we were told a tornado was on the ground while in Walmart and my family, and many others, were ushered to bathrooms and the dressing area(where we were.) There were people legitimately upset the dressing rooms were full of hunkered down children because this was apparently the perfect time to try on clothing...
