Yeah. Van Gogh made his art when he was doing better and responding to treatment. He wasn't able to produce art really when he was very depressed. Like I'm not saying he was completely free of it all the time when he painted, but like, the idea that he painted so much and so well because he was depressed is such a misconception.

oh same. my brain works in such a way that if my depression reaches a certain threshold I'm inmediately teleported to the couch and I'm already somehow five episodes deep into froobs.

I heard Van Gogh made Starry Night when he was in a mental hospital getting treatment for his depression. So that example doesn't even hold up the argument.

I remember so strongly someone once telling me I should be grateful for my trauma because it made me creative and I was like in a heartbeat I’d switch to not having trauma and not being creative id be CHILLING in an office job. Just having a great time as an accountant for real
