The water style jutsu was from the device Boruto used but, Boruto uses lightning style and wind style on his own. He added his lightning style to the water style from the device.

When Boruto did the lighting after the water the lighting did not come from the ninja tool he did the lighting him self. Only the water jutsu came from the tool
