I want to add that I am proud of myself for my ability to remain trusting of my partners! In my current relationship we survived what I consider an infidelity near-miss. (My partner had gotten close to a new friend, the friend developed a crush, my partner turned them down but later told me that there were definite feelings in the air that they didn't want to assume were mutual. I unfortunately found out about this through the grapevine after the friend felt jilted and there were a few fraught weeks, but we worked through it.) It's really important to me for both partners to have autonomy and deep friendships in a relationship and I think it's just a side effect of that that sometimes there will be crushes. Anyway, tangent aside, I just wanted to say thank you. It made times that I have actually felt forgiveness really stand out.

I caught this on YouTube late last week and I just wanted to let you know that your insights on cheating made a huge difference to me. I've been dealing with pressure to forgive my cheating ex for over 8 years. Despite an equal number of years of therapy and consuming psychological content about cheating, I've never heard someone describe forgiveness in the way that you did. I genuinely felt my shoulders get lighter. I will probably always harbor negative feelings towards him due to the constant deception. And that's just fine.
