I do Title IX cases - the gutting of OCR affects students who experience sexual violence and harassment on campus so much, especially considering the preexisting backlog. That plus Cummings (2022) slashing the damages available and there’s basically no accountability for schools anymore, except perhaps bad publicity. The best place for an attorney now is probably as an advisor for the on campus process to prophylactically protect the complainant’s rights (and, I suppose, the respondent). It’s grim out there

Linda McMahon is the head of The DOE. She was confirmed to the position by the United States Congress. That's a real thing. Pete Hegseth. Kash Patel. Dan Bongino. Pam Bondi. RFKJR. Jeanine Pirro. Emil Bove. Neil Gorsuch. Brett Kavanaugh. Amy Coney Barrett. E.J. Antoni. Lawrence Taylor. Sean Duffy. etc. etc. etc. etc. If they successfully destroy this nation or even if they don't, we really need to establish a council of elders in the next one or whatever is left of the remnants of this one, which has no power and no authority over legislation or anything else, but does have complete veto power over all appointments and personnel decisions by the executive & Congress. The Council will be where people go after they have successfully reached the age and terms limit past which they can no longer run for office. Their sole purpose will be to serve on a bi-partiaan panel to vet and interview all nominations. Nancy & Chuck (& his inaginary friends) and Chuck and Joe can sit in this advisory positiion & we can rest assured that we won't wake up one day to Kid Rock being confirmed to head up the department of the interior. The Congressional approval and Confirmation process and all the other checks were supposed to be the bulwark against a cockamamie president. I am trying very hard, but I still truly don't understand WTAF SCOTUS and Congress think they are doing right now.
