So yes this is a cute interaction. But now I have to question when Joyce was actually doing her laundry if she’s surprised that it’s busy on a Saturday.

Next strip: [Dorothy and Joyce encounter Joe on the way back to their rooms with their incredibly clean clothes] Joe: "Hey, guys. Back from 'doing laundry,' I see." Joyce: "Nah, it was too busy. We just ended up actually doing our laundry." [Dorothy stops in her tracks, eyes and mouth wide open in shock] Joyce and Joe: "Dorothy? You OK?"

The bit that's frazzling me a little bit is that while I do get that Dorothy fully psyched herself into thinking that this is a completely regular platonic activity, "gal palling too close to the sun" as some would say, the only way I can conceptualize Joyce's train of thought right now is by giving credence to all the people that were speculating that she did discuss all this stuff with Joe and he gave the green light.
