Ryuk has his own notebook. He dropped the one he stole from the other shinigami. Rem gave Misa the one from Gelus and he dropped his when he wrote L's name in it. So Light took Rem's, the task force had Misa's/Gelus's notebook and Misa dug out Light's notebook/the one Ryuk stole and dropped. So there are 3 + 1 on Ryuk

That's definitely the case, so many of the questions they were asking and thinking were plotholes during and after these 2 episodes were explained in the manga. Retaking the deathnote was basically an entire arc(7 chapters out of 108), but they chose to instead make it 1 really powerful episodes focusing mainly Light's dad.

So this is where rushing the manga becomes clear. They DID have cameras on their helmets. And in the manga we actually see on Light's computer the video feed transferred back. But before Light's dad goes into the room with Mello, Mello locks down the room and sets off a warning bomb. Then he threatens to blow up the place until they smash the cameras. So Light's dad smashes his camera and Mello, feeling safer, lets him inside. Light thinks this is OK because Mello doesn't know Light's dad has the Shinigami Eyes. The manga also has more to the conversation between Mello and Light's dad. This is all in chapter 73 if you're interested. Yeah...shame it was rushed.

what bugs me is that with all the bugs they were able to plant in Lights room, they couldnt get a single bodycam or one on the helmet for Dad goin in there while fully kitted otherwise?...ik its fiction and that would have killed the story but...seriously?

Also I’m pretty sure Light couldn’t kill Mello because they don’t have a recent picture of him. They only had a drawing or maybe at best some grainy photo of him when he was a kid. So only his dad was capable of killing Mello.

I don't think it's because of Near and Mellow that makes these episodes a bit harder to watch than the earlier ones. And I don't think it's because L is gone either. I think it's because of Light. We're not watching a Light that was in the progress of creating a new world. We're watching a Light who has already created it and his reactions and decisions are based on that as well. He's a lot less relatable than he was before and because of how big he is now, his enemies are using tactics that seem out of our reach where we're like "wait, you can do that?" That said, it's this higher level of chess that makes the ending so good. Regardless of anything, Death Note still has the best ending of all time in my opinion.

I think older anime has way too many pacing problems and we're spoiled by modern anime now. Maybe they'd make it through but idk, sometimes it's good to leave things in nostalgia (I think Brig and McKay have already watched it). It would also be hard to avoid all the filler in Naruto. Like even in canon Naruto episodes, you'll get random flashbacks of Naruto on the swingset for the 9001th time.

The interpretation for this is different in the manga, given the last chapter. Spoilers so be warned Seriously, spoilers. Don't read if you don't want Death Note spoilers. I warned you. You can still back out. !!!!!!!!!!!!SPOILERS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So from the beginning of the series, Light actually always knew the Heaven/Hell rule of the Death Note is just clever wordplay by Ryuk. Indeed, all humans don't go anywhere when they die. They just cease to exist (Mu). This is stated in the final episode, but in the manga, the final chapter shows Light tells Ryuk AT THE BEGINNING of their relationship that it's clear no human goes to Heaven or Hell. Since he knows this from the start, Light knows his dad isn't going anywhere after he dies. So it doesn't matter if he uses the Death Note or not. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SPOILERS END!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm leaving some extra comments here so the spoiler is hard to find if you scroll up, too. More padding. Thanks for reading. L deserved better.
