I understand what you said, but I would never think of Askeladd as a good person and no, I don't think Ketil is worse than him or Thorffin as a warrior. I know he is doing things according to his time period. What I said is that he is doing a good deal for the boys but is not doing the same for Arnheid, he is even using her knowing full well that she cannot denied him and that doesn't sit well with ME

Also I don't really understand how this arc was random, it involves a lot of people in the farm and gave Arnheid's backstory. I'd say it was more unexpected. I think it's showing what went on while Ketil was away and on his trip back

I don't understand where you get the impression that Arnheid is using Einar... she has already told Einar that she had no deal with Ketil to be free like Thorfinn and Einar. As for her past, you must understand the horrors of a Viking invasion. I don't think she would be comfortable talking about her past without context and the brutality she suffered. Even so, she did tell Einar and Thorfinn about her past in this episode when Einar was trying to rescue Gardar. And to be fair to Einar, he is a good human being in general, he accepted Thorfinn, a murderer in the past, as his friend. He feels for Arnheid and wishes to help her knowing full well her relationship with the master, without any expectations from her. In this manner, I think he truly loves her. Even after knowing she has a husband, he wishes to reunite her with her husband knowing full well the risk of doing so. I know that there are women who use men for their benefit, but from what we have seen so far, Arnheid is certainly not one of them. As for Cannon's "everyone wants this chick", well, it is not everyone but only three people - the man who bought her, her husband and poor Einar who is in an unfortunate position.

If you’re looking for action, comedy, and feels go watch Mob Psyho100 !! also would love to see your reaction to Hunter x Hunter but that one has more than 100 episodes so idk if you’re down ;-; oh and Monster is great too!! FMAB is very popular so maybe some of u have seen it already but if not, u should watch it! its loved for a reason!

Similar to you, I've recently started reading the manga, and future seasons will address with the issue of sexism more explicitly which puts the context of the some of these characters in season 2. Yukimura understood that violence, classism, and sexism were view as "normal" in that time period, but he has a pointed message for all of these things.

Chances are you happily eat meat and do things that contribute to climate change, as do I, but in the future people will likely look back on our actions as horrific and vile. Ketil is generally a great person given the time and culture he lives in, and does a lot to help people he has no social pressure to help. Just because he did other things that are seen as normal to his culture doesn't take away from that. (I have seen the rest of the season tho)

You have to look in the context of their time period. Ketil was one of the best people out there in comparison, the way he treated all workers and such

The first time I watched this I did feel bad for Arnheid, that poor woman, but now rewatching and with manga context, her back story made me cry a little, I cannot believe how much I came to love her character. I guess that's why it rubs me in the wrong way every time someone says that Ketil is a good person, he sure gave Einar and Thorffin a good deal, but then again he bought a woman, he never gave her the same kind of deal, and even made her his sex slave after... there is no other way to look that 😓
