I can't believe it took me this long to think of this and ask. Since you all have loved the score for this have you thought about (or already) reacted/watched the "Hiroyuki Sawano Attack on Titan Suite" where they did a single take on most of the greatest songs for this show? It's a near 19min single take with Hiroyuki Sawano, who is the genius on the piano behind everything and some handpicked greats that he has included in soundtracks for other anime as well. Only thing that isn't single take about it is the layering of other recordings of theirs for background (cant remember proper term) Thought about it as I was re-watching your S2E6 video and facepalmed so hard i nearly had anime level handprint on my face as i typed.

i don't think it's a misdirect, there are quite a few theories going on about it but i won't say anything cause it's manga ending related. but ig if you've read it and are into theories you can look it up. I don't think they would accidentally use up part of their budget to tie the song to unrelated visuals, there is probably some symbolism to it that's not cleared up yet. Song-wise it was actually my favourite until Akuma No Ko, i like it so much better than earlier endings.

Guys, I respect your decision to watch the OPs and ending later on but you guys missed the chance to really embrace these, maybe that’s why most of you are not that fond of many of these. We listened to each opening with every episode as we watched the seasons, and each specific opening portrays the exact theme of the ongoing season, thats why we relate to them so much. Plus, you had already heard the music before and seen the show. When you havent watched the show and see even spoilers in the OP, your mind gets racy because you are trynna piece together the pieces of info that you saw but your mind always has room for doubt that maybe it’s all a bluff. Like the dinosaurs xD. So watching these spoiler OPs with each episode only builds up the suspense and it gives an even more worthwhile experience imo. I’d recommend you to listen to OPs and endings of other animes simultaneously. Hope you consider it.

I am not a huge ED fan for AoT - S1 ED1 - Good and soothing song, but perhaps basing it on Mikasa was too character-specific so early in the series. S1 ED2 - I liked this one, the rolling acorn and the symbolism. If you look carefully, the cadets on Eren's side are the straightforward ones, but the ones on Reiner's side each have a huge secret. And Eren being controlled by his Attack Titan was brilliant foreshadowing! S2 ED - Of all the Ops and Eds, this one is my most favourite because it is so specific and unique to Aot, the creepiest thing I have ever seen. It gives major plot spoilers, and the song is hypnotic, out of this world, it sounds like the anthem of a cult! S3 ED1 - If S1 ED1 was Mikasa, here it is Historia, but understandable as the season focuses on her. But the end credit for the last episode has cemented this ED in the hearts and minds of all and almost made the good song creepy in people's memory. S3 ED2 - I liked the song, very nostalgic as many 'sayonaras' are said this season. I loved how the ED elevated the final moments of some of the episodes, like S3 E21. It kicks in perfectly with the 'Whose memories are these' lines by Kruger,making it a very good ED in my opinion. (Note: Did you guys watch the ending montage for E22 of S3? It is interesting!) S4 ED1 - I personally liked this, I was surprised when you guys did not like it quite as much! The song and lyrics are beautiful, and so are the visuals. I think the bird-like visuals are a good metaphor for Gabi, Falco, Eren and Reiner - birds in a cage! Just like the previous ED, it picks up very nicely during the final moments of some of the episodes, elevating the feeling of nostalgia and sadness in the episode. S4 ED2 - I personally was biased against this one as I could not enjoy Eren after his genocidal actions. But the song, lyrics and visuals are amazing, and by themselves, I must say, this ending is iconic!

It is so difficult to rank the OPs and EDs for AoT, they each have their own unique feeling. S1 Op1 - It is THE defining OP for AoT, full of hype and action, especially the 'Jeagar' part! S1 Op2 - I love it for the amazing song, lyrics and symbolism. The visual of Armin bathed in blood of his comrades, and yet a single candle is lit in his mind which shows his mental fortitude and his observation skills that finally reveal the identity of the Female titan. S2 Op - Sasageyo almost became an anthem, need I say more! Amazing visuals, though they take the Beast analogy a bit too far I think! S3 Op1 - Initially, I was caught unaware by the soft tone of the Op, so unfitting for a show like AoT and the incoming violence (I am a manga reader, so I knew what was incoming!). However, it grew on me eventually, especially the kid versions of Levi, Erwin (I think we should've also got some childhood backstory of Hange and Miche, too!) S3 Op2 - This is a combination of S1 Op1 and S2 Op, the same band! You can hear the themes and words for both the Ops, it is like the ultimate culmination of all Ops, just as the season was the ultimate culmination of the previous parts! S4 Op1 - Once again, unexpectedly bizarre! This is the same band that did the ED for S2, so their songs are also a bit edgy and bizzare. I heard they are Isayama's favourite band! It kind of encapsulates the propangandist state of Marley quite well through the visuals, especially the soldiers marching. And of course, the final 'monster, monster, monster, monster' is too good! S4 Op2 - Spoiler! But it slaps hard!

the season 2 ending is one of my favorite things ever. it was the only ending/opening in the series that was personally storyboarded by the creator of the series Hajime Isayama. The visuals you see in this ending are meant to be mysterious and unnerving and when I watched it years ago it peaked my interest in the world of aot so much. Genuinely I think it's better to watch the openings and ending while you watch the show and that's especially the case for this one. Isayama wanted this to be a part of the viewing experience of the show. Can't really say the same for the rumbling because it does show some crazy spoilers but i watched it anyway bc the song slaps. Also the band that did this ending is one of Isayama's favorite bands

Y'all are right Season 4 part 2 has the best opening and ending of any anime imo. Y'all should totally check out SiM's S4p3 ending Under The Tree. I heard it play in the video but y'all didn't watch it. The ending doesn't have much in the way of animation but the words hit deep. The Rumbling is from Eren and Under The Tree is from Mikasa.

If you search for "If aot was a movie and all the characters were acting" on YouTube, there's a short where it shows the "behind the scenes" of AoT with the characters taking pictures and selfies. It's emotional to watch with the akuma no ko song playing in the backgroung.

Did McKay really give Name of Love (S3P2 ED) a 2? That’s stone-cold 😂 The ED is very much tied to the Basement Reveal (end of S3E19) for me. The reveal that humanity, not only exists, but is thriving beyond the walls was mind blowing; and when “sayonara sekai..”(“goodbye world..”) started playing, IT HIT HARD with the nostalgia. It felt like we were saying goodbye to the only world we’ve ever known, and hello to a brand new one. It truly felt like the end of the beginning.

My rankings are almost the same as Carter's. I'm surprised everyone ranked season 1 part 2 intro between an 8 and 9(which I love) 😍 since it's so underrated, and some people don't like it, especially when it shows the ODM gear. I'm glad Cannon and Carter ❤️appreciate Season 3 part 2 ending "Name of Love"; however, knowing how low Jackson, Mckay, and Brigs ranked the song crushed me 😭. Hopefully, you guys react to season 4 part 3 ending "Under the Tree." Have any of the geks on their own fully listened to the intros and outros with the song lyrics besides doing it in this reaction video? PS. Akuma no ko is the BEST ending i’ve ever seen, i remember that I couldn't listen to it without having tears in my eyes for 2 weeks. The rumbling is SO epic, you should pause and observe the details it’s unreal! and personally I love « Shock » so much it brings back memories of my season 4 viewing when i was speechless at the end of each episode and had to wait a week for the next one… (Mappa is the goat for OP and ending sorry not sorry)

By the way, here's a fun fact about the S2 ending: When the season was airing, the part of the manga that the ending was referencing hadn't come out yet. So some keen-eyed manga readers (of which I am not one) technically got spoiled by it. Though, really, depending on how far you are into the story, that ending can change its meaning. For example, by the end of S2, all we know is that humanity has been driven to near-extinction. So the S2 ending looks like it's telling you about that. By the end of S3, we're semi-aware of the Great Titan War since Grisha discusses it in his backstory, so the S2 ending looks like it might be about that instead of the extinction of humanity. Then, we're hit with the realization in S4 that, no, this ending isn't about the past. It's about the future: The Rumbling. It's "memories of the future", if you will. That was my thought process, anyway, as I kept thinking back to that ending as I waited for new episodes to come out these last few years. (I started watching Attack on Titan in 2017, coincidentally just before S2 started coming out.) It's one of those endings that has no right to be as good as it is, but you still can't get it out of your head, which is why I kept thinking back to it.
