I’m cheesing! Guys! This is part of the story, yes is a prequel. This is 800 years before the present time line in one piece. The characters name is Ryuma, and yes he’s the king. I imminently recognize the sword because is a very important sword in one piece. Zoro has an important battle with the corpse of Ryuma in actual one piece and gets his sword as you guys can see. A lot goes into that battle so that all I’ll say. Such a good look into the past. I hope you guys wait for the remake of one piece so you can can enjoy it more but regardless you guys will enjoy it either one you guys watch in my opinion. Can’t wait until I take that journey with you guys 😬

it's not just filler episodes that pad the runtime, it's filler within non-filler episodes, recaps etc. There is no way a properly paced modern adaptation of one piece would run for over 700 episodes

I wasn't expecting to see the actual scene from one piece at the end there, but that was sooo cool! Amazing ending I think 🤩🤩 And sooo glad you guys enjoyed it too! Also to clarify, I'm pretty sure they actually were saying that he was the King! Earlier in the episode you hear them talking about how a mysterious swordsman called King was likely the only one above Shirano in skill, but people rarely saw him. At that point Ryuuma admits to wanting to fight him someday, but after he defeats the dragon and Ryuuma leaves the bartender says he remembers Kings full title to be "Ryuuma de King". Ryuuma's said to not know his nickname because rather then choosing it for himself or anything it was simply something some of the people he had saved had started calling him. So in the beginning, the one said to be the greatest swordsman and the one Ryuuma wants to fight, is in actuality, himself.

Idk why people saying OP should be 750 episodes. Usually for 20 page shounen chapters a good rate is 2 chapter per episode. Sometimes more if it’s action heavy. So at minimum OP should be 1100/2 = 550 episodes. 750 is still rather slow pacing for OP, which doesn’t have much dialogue compared to other shounen like HxH which still adapts 2+ chapter per episode.

Well I've never seen one pace so i cant say. But I've heard it has a lot of issues before Wano. So I wouldn't really consider one pace to have perfect pacing. The true answer is we wouldn't know exactly how long it could be unless an actual professional studio remade one piece. Which is what studio wit is doing right now

This is pretty easy to settle. One Pace is the edited version of One Piece that follows the manga pretty much exactly, and it cuts about 350 episodes worth of time from the series (assuming each episode is 20min); that leaves about a 750 episode show. This in no way justifies One Piece’s pacing because that’s a ridiculous amount to cut, but your 300 episode estimate is way off.

It still shouldn't make that much of a difference and yes jojos can be dense aswell. I've read and watched both op and jojos and I had to stop watching op because the pacing became bad after marineford. Whereas jojos, throughout the whole show (except maybe part 3) had great pacing because they followed the manga 1 by 1, each page was animated as its shown, frequent breaks between parts, and no fillers. If one piece followed what jojos did it would be much shorter

But jojos is longer than one piece and more than half of it has been animated and yet it's only 190 episodes. Assuming part 7 and 8 of jojos is 100 ish episodes its only 300 episodes. How can one piece be 700 despite it having 3000 less pages than jojos? Bad pacing and fillers can add up a lot.
