the suho and beomseok conversation was so nerve wracking. i could see it on ur faces how tense u all felt, i remember watching for the first time and feeling like i was really there with them, sort of in the middle of it like sieun was—trying to get them to talk it out. it’s such an interesting shift from sieun being the brewing aggressor to him trying to mediate. like carter and mckay said, he’s extremely attentive and emotionally perceptive, it’s so clear how much he cares about them even with such little dialogue. sieun’s actor really is all about the expressions. the unspoken problems between the three of them, and beomseok, who is severely traumatized—it’s such a difficult situation. there are so many layers and i’m glad you guys recognized it’s not something that can easily be solved. i think beomseok is extremely insecure, and when suho puts his arm around him he feels like his “lackey” or lesser than him. but i’d point out that he hadn’t complained until the guy in their class said “you’re acting tough now bc of ur friends.” which completely set him off. beomseok wants acceptance but he feels good with validation, which suho and sieun give differently than the bullies. he wants verbal acceptance and respect, and feels inferior when suho’s way of showing that is through physical touch, bc that, to him, becomes triggering. Also happy birthday to Park Jihoon, i went to his birthday cafe today in seoul and it was a great time 🥹 truly an amazing actor and the best role for sieun there could’ve been.

I see where you’re coming from, and I agree that there’s a lot of attention-seeking behavior, especially with his role in the group and how he’s acted when attention is split. However, I think there’s more going on with his need for attention. It might not be just about wanting to be the center of everything; his actions seem to stem from insecurity or feeling overlooked in a different way. Maybe it’s not that he’s rejecting the group because of misogyny, but more because he’s struggling with his place in it all. The way he isolates himself when she’s around could be more about him fearing being forgotten, rather than rejecting her as a person. His motivations seem complicated, and I don’t think they’re driven by a single need for attention, even though that’s definitely a part of it. It’s like he’s caught between wanting validation and pushing people away, and it’s those mixed feelings that drive his actions. It’s definitely a complex situation, and I’m glad that I can read everyone’s comments because everyone is able to discuss their own thoughts on this topic.

I understand the reactions of the boys but not the people in the comments who have already seen the show. We can't use the excuse that he doesn't want to be anyone's Lackey when he has proudly become the lackey for the new friend group. He is literally happy to be a cash cow. It all came down to attention. He just wants attention/ It's that simple. Second of all, IDK why we're saying he's being left out when he purposely left himself out. Purposely didn't engage in any convo because she was around, which i simply because I suspect he's misogynistic (based on some of his later behavior towards her). Every time someone tried to reach out to him, be friendly with him, or spend time with him, he pushed away simply because they hung out with a woman who never disrespected him. The bottom line answer is that He wanted attention, they divided their attention with another person and he was jealous. Based on his later behavior, it's clear he never cared for either boy and was only around them for social brownie points.

The gurl grew up in an environment where boundaries weren't respected, privacy was a luxury and where control and manipulation were normalised, it's possible she doesn't understand what healthy boundaries look like. She might think that being overly involved or intrusive is a form of care or connection. In her mind snooping might equal closeness. Understanding however, isn't the same as excusing. Just like how we do with Beom Seok's. A rough upbringing can explain why she acts the way she does, but it doesn't absolve her of accountability. Just because you were raised in chaos doesn’t mean you get a free pass to be chaotic. And here, the writers were doing their job, showing the consequences of that behaviour ..I just wish we have more time with her though... where she'll get some kind of redemption arch that involves learning boundaries, learning new values not just being pitied for her past.

Fr for real communication could’ve ended the whole show by Episode 5 💀 none of them actually know how to communicate. Beom-seok was raised to suppress his emotions, Su-ho reacts with fists not words, and Si-eun just bottles everything up until he explodes. They're all speaking different emotional languages with no translation. Beom-seok needed reassurance, Su-ho thought loyalty was enough, and Si-eun stayed quiet too long. It’s not just about friendship failing it’s about how boys are never taught to express pain before it turns into something worse. I think each character here is so complex and it’s so important to understand each one how their dynamic going forward. I think that Su-ho shows love through actions, not words. He protects but doesn’t validate emotionally, so he misses subtle cries for help. That’s why he doesn’t get why Beom-Seok doesn’t like his arm wrapped around him or he doesn’t notice when Beom Seok felt left out at the coffee shop. He’s essentially emotionally unavailable. He fights for his friends but doesn’t fight with them emotionally. As for Si-eun I he cares for Beom-Seok but I think his problem is his emotional delivery. But his tone is flat and distant, so it doesn’t feel warm or comforting. He notices things but waits for others to open up first, which doesn’t work for someone like Beom-seok who needs emotional pursuit. So even when Si-eun cares, it doesn’t always feel like it. Now as for Beom-Seok he grew up abused, so he suppresses everything and hopes people just “get it.” When they don’t, he takes it as rejection and spirals into resentment.

Ok one last thing to add I do think that Su-ho could’ve handled that whole thing with Beom-Seok a bit better. Like he didn’t have to push him against the wall like that but at the same time he was upset that his friend was talking to him like that. It’s just one of those situations where communication is SUPER important and no one’s doing that 🤦🏾‍♀️.

Anyone who blames Yeongi for Beomseoks crash out clearly lacks critical thinking. Beomseok was going to crash out one way or another and we can clearly see that when people refer to him as some lackey. Yeongi answering the call was just the cherry on top. I also do think its hypocritical that some of you guys can understand Beomseoks insecurity and how it links to his past but can't understand why Yeongi lacks boundaries and how that likely links to her past too. Yes, Yeongi should have not picked up the phone, but lets not act like thats the reason why beomseoks even called her a bitch. Beomseok is insecure and he let his insecurities get the best of him and instead of communicating his emotions or setting boundaries, he directed is anger out on Yeongi and Suho.

This episode was so intense! But my opinion on Bom Seok(David) was that he’s obviously very insecure due to being bullied throughout high school, being beat by his dad. If y’all recall from an earlier episode I believe 3 or end of 4 where his lawyer is telling him to beat up Gil-So(the gangster) the gangster kept saying to him that he’s not like his two friends and he will never be like them. Then he leaves and kicks the trashcan clearly we see he may feel insecure in their dynamic. I believe he feels not only left out when they hangout with the girl but maybe he thinks his two friends stand up for themselves and he can’t. I think he was just misplacing his anger to the easy target (Su-ho). Finally he gets the recognition and follow back he’s been looking for from the bullies. It shows how surface level he views friendship. Maybe his lack of experience in friends he can’t see that Su-ho and Si-run are there for him when it matters but he’s so hung up on Su-ho not following him back and then hanging out with the girl at the hospital. Very emotional and tense episode I can’t wait for talks reaction to the rest of this season cause it gets crazyyyy

honestly same, might be an unpopular opinion within the context of the show but if someone does something wrong, i don't believe that yelling and insulting them will solve the issue. Even if she pushed the wrong boundary or answered his phone, obviously she's not gonna know what the hell's going on when someone calls her a bitch. Like no one's gonna try to understand you if you don't actually talk to them like they're a human being. EDIT: Obviously, Beomseok is going through a lot and isn't used to talking about his feelings or situation and what's going on, but that doesn't excuse his behavior either. Honestly I feel like with or without the girl, David would still have his crashout at some point. I really like how Si-eun and Su-ho are as friends, like if David were to suddenly say everything that has been happening, including the abuse from his father, I know the guys wouldn't judge him nor make fun of him. There's actually an unreleased footage/scene where Suho and Bomseok was drinking by the river. Tldr Bomseok asked Suho about his instagram and Suho explained that he didn't really used socialmedia. This episode was hard to watch. What’s even more heartbreaking is how deeply insecure and isolated David feels. Throughout the episode, it’s like he’s silently asking "If no one understands me, do I even belong here?" He wants to be seen, but doesn’t know how to ask for help. What I love about this show is how it captures the buildup of small emotional moments. It’s not just one big event -it’s layers of pain, silence, and misunderstanding that slowly push someone over the edge The new girl doesn’t help. She’s loud, confident, and bright - everything David thinks he isn’t. He feels replaced, then left out again at the coffee shop, when he thinks they just used him to pay. At karaoke, he panics when he runs into his old bullies and looks for support but the girl answers his phone, making the whole stuation worse. It might seem like not a big deal but to David it felt like an invasion, exposing trauma he’s tried to hide. and then those calls from the fuckers, what a complee nightmare. Suho and David clearly see friendship very differently. Suho doesn’t really need friends, but David needs someone who’s truly there for him to show him he matters and prove that his insecurities are wrong, that he does BELONG here. When they visit David’s home, it feels like they genuinely care. But it’s also clear how little they understand and know each other. Suho says “Your family looks so happy” trying to cheer him up but it completely backfires. Later when David opens up about being bullied, Suho asks “Why did they pick on you? What did you do?” He means well but to David it sounds like blaming him he did something wrong to be bullied. Then Suho stops David from confronting the bully. What Suho sees as stepping in, David feels is betrayal. Why is it okay for me to be hurt, but not okay for me to fight back? Why is it okay for Suho to fight, but not for ME? Honestly, I had doubts about David ever since he put that fentanyl patch on Sieun’s neck. But his character development is insane. I still hope he can heal. Maybe it’s better if he just takes the money, leaves, and finds a quiet place to finally be himself

Sieun is my favorite character because he's so complex. He doesn't care about strangers and puts on a cold front, but he cares deeply about his friends and would do anything for them. Also he's one of the few people in this show that actually wants to TALK IT OUT and talk about his feelings, again, despite having this cold nonchalant attitude to people who don't know him. He just wants to de-escalate the situation and notices the smallest things. It's because he's got very high emotional intelligence despite most people around him, which also makes his "crashout" moments very understandable

ALSO, they didn't show it, but when she answered his phone, the old bullies were on the other end and they lied to her they were his friends and asked where he is, so that's also why they found him because she confirmed to them they were at the karaoke and almost told them the room number too..... And she's pushy as h*ll.....I just can't with her... And let me tell y'all that I LOVE your reaction!!! I aperciate the way you actually pay attention and kind of understand where Bum-seok is coming from like....he has been bullied his whole life in school...tried to fit in and all that and also he has the biggest bully in his FREAKING FATHER..... he has a monster in the very house he lives in that tells him constantly to just go and die + beating the sh*t out of him. I'll admit when I first watched this episode back in 2022 on Viki Rakuten, I wasn't as understanding or empathetic to Beomseok's actions and emotions. I was too angry and frusturated. I just thought he was being insecure and downright selfish. Sorry Beomseok, please forgive me... :-( But the more I watch Weak Hero which is a lot now since I'm obsessed with this show. The more I understand how much he's been suffering, internally. He's a very broken person that's never had a voice to speak his true thoughts. He's never had the freedom to be himself or to be free at all for that matter in any sense of the word. He's hurting and is deeply traumatized by his past with the rich bullies as well as his homelife with his adopted abusive father. I hate to even call him a father. He doesn't deserve that title. I think monster or leech fits him much better.... ughhh. I seriously hate him. Anyway in Beomseok's mind, it feels like he's being replaced by Yeongyi all of a sudden without warning. Like others have stated on here, their personalities are just the opposite and it clashes. I feel bad that I blamed her at the beginning too. But now I realize, she didn't do it on purpose. She wasn't trying to hurt or offend anyone. That said, she does lack some basic manners such as grabbing someone's else phone without their permission and answering when you don't even know them. I would be angry if someone did that to my phone as well. She doesn't fully grasp certain social cues and lacks certain manners overall. But her becoming close friends with Sieun and Suho just happened over time gradually because of the cirmstances they all were in at the time. The more I watch this show, the more I notice all the small details I failed to see at the beginning or rather I overlooked them due to being too caught up in it. Therefore, I wasn't able to fully comprehend or accept everything quite yet.

What I noticed is that: 1. Su-ho is following a total of 5 people and very few posts so I don't think he cares about social media like many young adults do. 2. The girl is very pushy-type. You can see it from when she forced Si-eun to share an umbrella with her; made him eat with her even though he said he didn't like the food; AND took Si-eun's phone and call her number. Taking those into consideration, two things are possible: 1. She followed herself from Su-ho's account; or 2. She forced/nagged him to follow her back immediately! Boem Seok wasn't there when they spent a night in the hospital so he didn't see how it went about with the Instagram following. Nonetheless, he is very insecure, embarrassed to tell his friends that he was/is still being bullied, and his insecurities plays a factor in feeling lesser than his two friends as he feels as if he doesn't have anything to offer: apart from money. And interpret Su-ho not following him back as him not being an equal - he asked Su-ho "Am I your lackey?" when his emotions were running high during a fight between them at the karaoke.

It's genuinely enjoyable reading the comments here. I really appreciate how people take the time to analyze the characters in depth. I personally enjoy reading that kind of breakdown, especially when the characters are so layered. Boemseok/ David 😂 in particular is such a complex one, and it's refreshing to see discussions that actually try to understand him instead of just labeling or dismissing him. It's a nice change from what I usually see on...ugh tiktok where the takes can feel a bit surface-level or overly simplified. Also not to forget the geks commentary really adds to that. It's thoughtful, observant and shows a clear grasp of the characters and their emotional depth.

I feel like the way their classmates and even Beomseok's bullies listened to Suho right away while ignoring Beomseok really triggered his insecurities. And Suho’s carefree personality definitely does not help - like the way Suho puts his arms on Beomseok's shoulders may seem like he's kind of resting his arms on him, which could give off the feeling that Beomseok is "under" him. Obviously none of this is Suho's intention and he's just being friendly, but it's not translating well to someone who's already insecure and traumatized 😩

You've nailed one of the key contrasts! To Beom Seok, it’s proof that he wants to exist in someone else's world by choice, not by pity or obligation (such as the reason he was adopted) ... He doesn't just wanna be liked, he wants to be chosen. That difference is everything. Hence Suho casual attitude, and who is secure enough about himself and doesn't need to chase social markers to be seen, ends up feeling cold and rejecting to someone like BS. It’s wild how something as small as an IG follow becomes the seed of resentment.

You guys are def the best to react to weak hero compared to other reactors! You guys actually pay attention to the details and why characters act the way they do instead of just blowing it off. Cannon was so real this reaction, can't wait for the next uploads! Fun fact: The actor for beomseok is actually super sweet in real life too ! He's super shy and his behind the scenes + interviews are so funny and showcases his clumsiness. It was super nice seeing his true personality outside his character haha i def recommend seeing them, he's a big introvert apparently. Other than that, the build up to beomseok reacting this way was truly well done. The writers did such a good job showcasing how even the little things can cause a domino effect. One thing I think people were confused about was why did beomseok get mad that suho kept putting his arm around him? It's because if you noticed, in each bullying scene bullies often times put their arms around their victims to "act as if they are friends and playing around." And if you noticed how in the scene where they confront his bullies, they keep saying that they are "friends." In kdramas and from this show, i picked up that it seems like bullies call their victims friends in a demeaning way or maybe it's just to cover up that they are bullies. Also gaslighting! They keep saying things like "oh we are friends though, why are you mad that i hit you??" is actually crazy but reveals how cunning they are. In this episode we can see how beomseok was just getting overstimulated by that + how he felt like suho was leaving him out. I think suho thought an apology would be enough but a pain like that takes a very long time to heal. Those wounds opened up for beomseok and we def have to remember that he recently switched schools, so he was being bullied all the way up until he transferred, so it's not even a time gap between him getting bullied. I always feel so sick watching beomseok in this episode, I truly love his complex character.

And heresss what I've been fearing and anticipating 🫣 I knew that downfall of "He's so niceee!" in the beginning was gonna hurt 😔 But heavy on the getting home safe but not being safe at home - Cannon laying down during the intro was so real Also to the question of where the spiral started, unfortunately I think its very much a perfect storm kind of thing :(( Where just last episode we see Gil-su saying how he's nothing in comparison to his friends, and questioning if he's Su-ho's and Si-eun's lackey, just to have the words recycled this episode with: "Why do you always drag me around?" "Why are you always bossing me around?" /"Am I your lackey?"/ Meanwhile also all following the fact that he's been watching how the others are having fun and posting without him (likely all Yeong-i, but we know how that still looks to him), Su-ho now follows Yeong-i but still not him, and he's stuck walking /behind/ the two of them rather than with them, feeling left out even when he's present now I also think that the arm around the shoulder is very triggering for him not just from the straight up physical abuse factor (someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think we saw him be fine with Su-ho's touch previously in the prior episodes) but heavily from the bullying aspect of things. You'll see it very commonly in K-dramas and such that an arm over the shoulder while acting all buddy buddy is how the bullies frequently play off their bullying in front of onlookers (you saw this in the first episode with vampire Ben Affleck putting his arm over Si-eun's shoulders in front of the teacher right after they'd just choked him out) while simultaneously asserting a physical sense of dominance over them. Which also while Beom-seok (/David lol) definitely needs to be able to communicate with the others, its still a bit rough to watch Su-ho be largely oblivious to everything 😭 The way Si-eun is, he's definitely picking up on way more though And no because they really did speed run Beom-seok getting all the affirmations he was looking for from the previous bullies 😫 p.s. Cannon shouting and switching off the episode was one of the funniest things I've seen in awhile though LMAO

Good point. That "stop putting your arm around me.." isn't just about personal space. It's a trauma landmine. To him, it mimics the way his bullies assert dominance over him. ( see how they touched and aimed for his back/shoulders in those flashback scenes ). To him it means " i own you." so BS flinches whenever Suho does that —not because he hates Suho, but because his body remembers.

One detail that I want to bring to light is the “stop putting your arm around me”. Beom-seok has been starting to feel left out, and maybe a bit inferior starting from the free money boss telling him at the station that he’s nothing compared to his friends, and then another classmate saying to him that he’s nothing and getting cocky bc of his friends definitely got to his head on top of the whole instagram following and feeling pushed out bc of the girl coming in out of nowhere. The arm around the shoulder can be really friendly but it’s also a common thing done by bullies or someone “superior” and it just made Beom feel even more like Su-ho’s lackey rather than a friend that he wanted to be.

This episode honestly broke my heart. You can really feel how much Beom-seok is struggling with the fear of being left behind again because of his past trauma. Even though Suho and Si Eun are clearly trying to be there for him, he can’t see it that way. Something as small as not being followed back on Instagram becomes a trigger, not because it’s a big deal on its own, but because it reminds him of being excluded and ignored in the past. At the same time, he’s not able to open up and say, “Hey, this hurt me,” or “I’m not okay,” which makes things even harder. I’m not blaming him — when you’ve been hurt like that, it’s hard to trust anyone. But without that transparency, it just feels like he’s spiraling and pushing people away before they can do it to him first. This episode really captured that pain in such a raw, honest way.

a small detail i love about this episode is the vending machine. At the karaoke place when beomseok goes by himself to get drinks for everyone, he gets three of the same and then one that is different, symbolizing how he is currently feeling like the odd one out. another detail i like is how when beomseok loses his glasses he becomes a different person. they even keep this up for the rest of the episode, where he isn't acting as himself just like he doesn't look like himself. small stuff like this makes me appreciate the directors/producers/cinematographers of the show, their storytelling is beyond compelling

Poor Beomseok, he's dealt with trauma all his life and all he's ever wanted was to feel accepted, validated, and loved by his peers and family. He's hit his breaking point after being pushed past his limits for far too long. He's never had anything easy given to him. I can understand that painful feeling of being left out, pushed aside while someone else takes your place or so, it seems like at that time. Your thought process is in a misty haze. It's such a horrible confusing sensation. You feel angry, jealous and not good enough. It festers deep inside causing you to feel isolated, alone, and as if there's no one/nowhere to turn to. But the best thing to do is express how you're feeling openly, honestly, and without regrets. I'm glad Sieun and Suho tried to get him to open up because they care about him and want to make sure he's okay. They were trying to keep his best interests at heart. However, I know Beomseok is just crashing out at this point. He's mentally and emotionally exhausted of all the hurt, pain, abuse, torment, and continuous misery he's endured. Therefore, he's not thinking rationally which is understandable. So in his eyes, he's getting friends, popularity, and finally acceptance everything he's ever dreamed of right at his fingertips. He believes he's living the "high life." Sadly, it's the wrong friends who are only taking advantage of him because of his wealth and he's merely a convenient tool to use, easily disposable. I seriously hate how they're using his vulnerability against him. Beomseok is going down a downward spiral. Damn this episode always hits hard... You feel conflicted with all sorts of emotions... That's what makes this drama so good. Sorry, I made this longer than intended and rambled but I had a lot to say. Haha Anyways, can't wait for episode 6! The acting in this show is phenomenal. Thank you guys!

IF only he had been fully transparent about his traumas.. not just about being bullied but being abused by someone who is supposed to keep him safe in his own home (his father).. things could be a lil different (i hope). but i also understand what's keeping him from sharing about that abuse. BS curated his pain in the way he thought would keep people closest, while hiding the part that made him feel most worthless. It’s deeply human, deeply tragic — and a big reason why his arc spirals the way it does.
