20:05 I wonder about that, too. It felt like a last minute addition to pad out the ace/Luffy flashback. He was never even mentioned until the end of Marineford. How can I explain it - like someone added their OC into the main story? Like a third wheel? I didn't see the point of adding Sabo to their backstory. Maybe Oda will prove me wrong, but I'm not vibing with that guy. I can't say it's the only reason why I stopped watching one piece during this flashback arc way back then. But even now as I'm picking up again, rewatching it with your reaction, it still felt like a filler. I would have preferred one or two wholesome ace/luffy/garp episodes instead. Or maybe it's that marineford high, which made this whole flashback arc feel dreary in comparison.

The first time the sake cups are shown in the mange there is already the edge of the third cup visible. Also maybe I'm wrong but i think it was confirmed somewhere that the tattoo stands for Ace, Sabo, Crybaby (Luffy) and Edward Newgate

Yep. Every time Prez mentioned it to justify Sabo not dying, I’m like Ace didn’t say that… XD lol. He said “say hi to Dadan” though

We'll never truly know how far back Oda had certain things planned, but whether Ace's tattoo was a mishap of spelling, or meant to be respect for Sabo (ASL flag, minus the L as Luffy is already doing his own thing while Ace felt the need to carry Sabo's mark to spiritually bring him along), either end is bittersweet/humorous depending.

I think y’all got confused. Ace never said, “say hi to Sabo.” Ace believed until the end that Sabo is dead.

Actually Ace is the older brother since his birthday is in January and Sabo's in March, so three months difference 😂 +Luffy saying to Ace that he'll definitely make him cry one day, and in Marineford he really did when he came to save him 😭 also this's one of the things i love about Ace, how he changed himself to become a better brother for Luffy since Sabo was the good older brother, it's just so cute also i lovvee what you said Prez, you said something that i've never thought of even though i've been a fan of OP since 8 years almost, the fact that Ace's hat that has a sad and happy face could represent how he used to be and how he became, that's so interesting! i've never heard that theory, the other theory behind the two faces that i know of is that it's the same two faces Ace made before he died, when he was crying with a sad face then a happy face.
