Luke Scheffe

His hatred of Uldar still feels weird. You would think that he, of all people, knows that the followers don’t represent the god, especially thousands of years after their death. And the hatred based on the contents of the secret sanctum is bull as well. Alex is even now working on his own secret sanctum full of evil seeming spells that he stole from his enemies. Sounds almost exactly like Uldar’ sanctum.

This chapter made me tear up. Great chapter

Orion1024

May be consistent with previous behavior, but previous behavior wasn’t logical. Or in that case let’s consider how he planned the demon mission, leaving his loved ones behind for protection but hiring merci for his own safety

lenkite

It doesn't make any sense to me. He should at-least take Claygon as Claygon has proven he can take all the damage dished out in a full assault by the [First Apostle] and just get a few scratches.

"It has the books we pilfered from Brightfire in it, and I’ll want them when we find Kelda’s sanctum" Why take these books along and risk losing them instead of just dropping them in Generasi ? He can even put them in the insula or campus lab instead of toting them along. If he wants specific spellbooks to study just choose them. Doubt he can really learn everything he has picked up unless the [Mark Of the General] is really that OP.

Possibly but there is a difference between tracking and following vs prediction, moving the priests and getting the earth spread out. Gut feel he followed Alex to thief den, threaten them and setup trap while heists was being planned / executed. Also explains why the other thief was so rattled.

Dennis

I don't know if the thieves betrayed him but the hunter has always seemed have been able to track Alex, I don't know if it because of his unique power, or something else.

Gareth S

It feels like the thieves already betrayed him and the whole 4 locations was just a betrayal setup (otherwise how did they get the dirt spread in time?). If we get a kicking thief ass chapter, then access to a location inaccessible to others, mark modification montage etc, then I’m loving the setup. If we spend months slogging around in the snow with no development then this feels a bit laborious.

Morcant

Are you just out to hurt me? Every chapter feels like another piece of my heart is being crushed. Yet I can't help but be consumed by every new chapter that drops.

Voror

Another aspect to consider is how he felt he was being watched when they were going over the map. I'd bet that it was the Stalker or the church watching. So they may have all those locations from the map and plant soil there to then spring a trap when they detect he's in the area. So every one of these locations is a likely battleground unless Alex can figure out the trick to this map and head them off.

HardcoreLace756

I wouldn't be surprised if the workshop is at the intersection of 2 lines drawn from each point to its opposite.

Sam

Keep up the good work! It makes perfect sense to me why Alex would want to search for the sanctum alone. It’s basically the best of the bad option he has available. I am looking forward to seeing Alex destroy them all eventually.

Owen Kaz

I think we're more likely to get a time jump of a month or so. Reconvening with Alex having searched several of the suspected zones unsuccessfully. I also expect that once he finds it, he will be in some manner "betrayed" by the thieves guild, as ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE as that seems.

Dennis

I agree I think there is only so long to drag out finding the mark making last months worth of updates would kill the momentum.

Voror

I'd rather hope this doesn't take months. I genuinely don't think he has that much time before either Ravener tries something or some of those loved ones he wants protect start getting picked off by the church. They are prioritizing him for now but that could always change or they have people sent to assassinate. I could see the Stalker tracking him and there being a decision to target his support network. And even when he finds the sanctum he'll have to unravel how to change the mark. And if that works he'll then need to start learning and using combat techniques. Which will be sped up but is still going to take time. Regardless the next time they attack him he either needs to get to the sanctum or I guess get really lucky yet again.

Kevin Squalls

I'm ready for him to deal with the mark, one way or another at this point.

Surgebinder

That was a short chapter

Adunn

This isn’t really working for me, the logic just isn’t there. Going alone is an even worse idea. just bring mercs or something.

stardast24

I would disagree with people saying it feels forced. If you look at how Alex reacted to similar things in the past it makes sense

MR105

Like others have said, this whole things feels really forced and kinda off, having three chapters about him making this decision too just kinda forces it into your face too.

Bob Bryan

If he is going to do this, despite how well foolish it is, the next words out of his mouth better be "damn straight I will be". Being jumped once happens. Twice is because he is an idiot. Heck pretty even chance the workshop isn't in any of those locations. Maybe a clue there, they point to somewhere or the thieves lied.

Duncan

Booooooo!!!!!!!!! You made me tear up !!!!! I hate this chapter so good!

Damian

Okay but he should hire those mercenaries again or find some new ones. He has the money and he isn’t really risking his family.
