MR105

Feels like some of the issues from rune seeker have trickled into this series. Artificial stakes, teasing new things that take forever to come to relevance, and the prog making decisions that don’t make sense

Longhaul

Agreed, this chapter could be axed and nothing would have been lost.

Dennis

I don't see the thieves helping the church, the thieves guild leader seems the type to want the power for himself then to potentially lose it to another powerful faction.

Anthony Sebastian

Imo, Alex is doing the best he can with the situation he's in. Is it a shot in the dark? Absolutely. He's desperate, and has little other leads, if any. Even with his summons, I don't think he has much of a chance against the church as he is now. He barely survived them the first time, and that was when he was with Claygon, his cabal, the Heroes, and the Watchers. I doubt that setting up a trap would be enough of an advantage, and hunkering down isn't too productive. I do think that there's a bit of a sunk-cost thing going on, which I imagine has some part in fueling his continued and desperate search.

Obi-Wan-Sage

Love the writing...but the chapter felt like a filler episode..

Jacob

Probably because any summons that are intelligent enough to help him look are also giant here I am signed

Sam

Thanks for the chapter

Gareth S

Yeah just did… there’s been pretty consistent feedback for the last few chapters and no changes

Fizbandu

Why isn't Alex using his summons? It would let him know of any ambushes and also like quintuple his search efficiency. Did he forget he has magic?

George R

Thanks for the chapter

Drakenclaw

Honestly, from my perspective the whole "Find the Sanctuary" plan is a pretty big shot in the dark. Not something you should gamble your whole hope on like Alex does. He doesn't know that the knowledge is actually there, survived or whether or not he can use it. The sanctuary might be hidden so well that he can't find it. The sanctuary might have defenses that could take a lot of time and bog him down enough for the church to catch up to him. This would actually be a pretty realistic scenario. Alex trying to deal with the defenses an experienced fool crafted, while getting attacked in the rear by the Stalker. Even if he could escape that situation, he might lose the sanctuary to the secret church. Trying something else like hunkering down and defending, setting up a trap to catch his hunters or a few other things look far more reasonable. Alex has access to so many resources, friends and allies and he basically left them all behind and exposed himself. Kind of feels like the MC is juggling the idiotball a bit in recent chapters.

Rebecca Junker

This is my theory as well.

Josh Cothran

Nothing happened in 2 chapters. Prolly gonna unsubscribe soon

Voror

I've been a bit confused by the lack of summons as well

LEMON

The thieves have the capability to surveil him and he doesnt even notice and he's trying to find how the church ambushes him? Alex really needs to learn some detection spells. Also why isn't he using his litteral army of summons to help him search. Just ask an earth elemental to check for the placed dirt. So many things he could be doing and isn't, its feels forced

BoltingSounds .

My guess is that the sanctum isn’t in the four locations, but in all four of them at once, it’s been shown that hannahs powers are basically space magic, so why can’t her sanctum be in 4 places at once, but if you visit each place separately you’ll never find it

Jakob

I can't help but agree, I'm essentially just waiting for the sanctum to be found. I'm reading these chapters only because I don't want to miss something, but if this was a book I'd skim this whole section

Voror

Yeah going about as expected. And even if he finds it he needs to search it and get what he can from it which is also going to take time. Not sure if the thieves want to make sure he doesn't find it though I'm more inclined to think they're hoping he does so they can take it for themselves. Which also means they'd be very open to helping the church potentially. So his problems are even worse than they already are and he doesn't know it

Adam Richards

I do not enjoy this arc at all. I’ve been less and less into reading the chapters since everything dealing with the Stalker has been moving towards confrontation, and each of these chapters have been a grind to read. Maybe it wouldn’t feel so bad in book form since they’re relatively short form chapters, but I just haven’t enjoyed them at all.
