Kenneth

The General offers three major advantages over them learning on their own: 1) They will learn at a unbelievably excellerated pace. It took our Revenge Enthusiast a few hours to cut the casting time of a spell in HALF. Fro. What we learned in the early chapters, That kind of modification takes months if not years without the aid of a mark. The Fool was doing work before, but The General is supercharging the process. 2) There is a lot less trial and error. The marks straight up TELLS YOU what you're doing wrong and right, even if you yourself have no idea. You just just need to tell it to apply a concept and off it goes. 3) The General gains the benefits of everything they can teach as well. They don't have the base bonuses of the other marks, but they will always be more skilled.

I'll be blunt this feels pretty brain dead. The giant revolation of the general... is to tell other people how to do their job better. Like holy hell dude if a wizard has a large mana pool they are going to learn new spells, a warrior is always training, some one can cast magic, fight, and use miricles WILL try to learn to incorperate them into a battle style. Like this is just disrespectful to your other characters and pretty much anyone with a heart beat. I want a refund.

lenkite

Shouldn't he be trying offensive spells first ?

Now to see if he can controlling each fibres of his mana pool and combine that with what he has done with spell-casting. Besides of course just mana manipulation, which I bet will get even more ridiculous. Or and getting his soul Involved. I can’t wait for alchemy, enchanting, and crafting to be tried with it all. Edit: also, he could try and apply the mark to the skill of experimentation and learning (and possibly inspiration), get that intelligence explosion going.

You've been saving this revelation for quite a while now!

One chapter’s worth of content broken out into three - I guess that’s the author maximizing Patreon profits in true capitalistic form 🧐. Meanwhile we’ve entirely lost the thread on everything else in the entire fictional world for the last month. I’ve subscribed for a month now and while I love the story overall, and binged everything released so far in a matter of weeks, I am not loving the lack of value in supporting the author via Patreon’s highest level. Maybe this is just pocket change now that the books are getting published and released as audiobooks so there’s less incentive to foster good-will with Patreon supporters? Or has it been like this from the start and my perspective is skewed due to the polished/edited nature of the books already published and refined chapters available on Royal Road?

MinE

He could probably learn to move his soul only or use his thoughts as movement of the mind.

Obi-Wan-Sage

Woot. Spellcasting in sign language. So.....Alex creates Konoha?

Jadida

These last 3 chapters kinda feel like they should’ve been combined, it’s all the same info. Him learning his limits and about the marks. I would definitely remove or condense the second chapter though for the book because it felt a bit like filler…

Benjamin Mages

Doubt it personally. Besides the fact that there was something called "The General's Folly" it seems likely that the General was patched because it was too strong. Not in a purely combat sense but in a way that Uldar might find particularly dangerous. And if it was nerfed because it installed too much arrogance, I feel like the new version wouldn't be called the "Fool" because that had the exact opposite effect.

better then alternate pov or pointless fights

Loved the mark of general and Alex's realizations about the other heroes, too. Can't for the heroes and cabal to reunited with Alex

David Bordelon

I am loving the mark of the general!

Ok, some progress. While I feel like this is all good information, it amounts to the same result, that the Fool/General was already doing his job in the party. Yeah, Alex is learning more about magic directly. Still, most of us already knew that Alex became so good at it because of the mana manipulation and magic circuitry practice he's done. I am glad that Alex is being proactive with the new mark, though. I wonder if past Generals thought of themselves as greater to the other heroes, and didn't fulfill their duty properly. Maybe it was turned into the Fool as a way to keep the team learning, and growing to protect the Fool, and the Fool could help with their skills in other ways. I wish he would summon the party, but teaching Mighty-Giant-Young seems like a good idea, too. Edit: New theories: 1. The General kept getting themselves killed by going into battle. Alex sure is impressed with himself right now, it's easy to imagine a General getting ahead of themselves. 2. The General kept figuring out that the Ravener they were fighting wasn't the real one, and to discredit future discoveries, Uldar patched the General into the Fool. 3. After Thameland's destruction every 100 years, they needed someone to build up society again. Past General's were more focused on learning than helping society, so Uldar created the Fool so that skills outside of combat would be developed. This backfired.

Code Reed

He can probably see the success and failures of others just as easily as his own now.

Code Reed

I guess chantless isn't technically a thing. Or at least he hasn't stumbled on how yet. Body language is still a language. Even if he replaced all the words and hand movements with muscles twitches, it's still technically a change of sorts.

Thomas Keller

Okay, so, I'm glad to be proven wrong here. The payoff of "Hey, who said skills weren't cross compatible?" is pretty great.

Duncan

Tyftc. I enjoyed this chapter. It reminds me of the meme where the guys seems to be realizing everything in life. Can’t wait until he applies it. I will say the pace seems at odds with the stakes, consequences are building in the real world.
