Joshua Little

Thanks for the chapter.

George R

Great chapter also loved the conversation between Alex and the first at the end- great traps

mant06

Setting battles into caves and other enclosed spaces is a quite good method of limiting the scale and range of effects (I.E. power level) that can be employed, as anything larger is liable of getting the user caught in it and range is less effective when you can't see out of a room.

Noobly

So worth it joining, finally all caught up, thanks for the chapters!

I hope Alex has prepared some Anti-Fae weapons. The famous [Fae Bane] for example. Pity he never went back to Generasi to seek advice on how to fight Fae. Or maybe it will be a grand reveal.

Jessica

Wouldn’t it be so cool if farther into the maze of traps, Alex had a portal opening into Uldar’s throne room for them to see 😬 I agree that he 100% needs to see Uldar’s corpse before he finally dies!

Speaking of heads, do you think Alex might adopt Baelin's practice of keeping his enemies' heads as trophies? Sounds a little morbid for Alex, but he has been heavily influenced by Balein and he seriously hates the FA and Stalker.

Nah, my guess is that he will simply carve a path through the walls instead of following behind Alex. In an earlier chapter, Alex thought the the Hidden Church might try that in order to bypass some of the traps and forge a more direct route. My guess is Alex and Birger have already accounted for the possibility and Stalker is simply delaying the inevitable. Or...perhaps he is actually expediting his own death. Birger had a route planned out, one that would slowly wittled down their numbers, but if Stalker and the FA bypass many of the traps, they might actually reach Alex and his 9th tier summons quicker, which isn't exactly a good thing. For them.

Why do I feel like the Hunter would sing My Way as he dies?

deus vault

I want to read about the hunter cry and beg for mercy. hehehehe/: he takes so much pride in only going after foes he is sure he can defeat. I wonder how much pride he will feel when his life is actually threatened. btw, he reminds me of the story about the wild hunt.

When it comes to GM, I prefer more psychological traps than physical traps, but then again, I prefer to play more modern settings than High Fantasy setting like DND. Small physical traps like bear traps or trapping people in a cave provides more psychological issues than outright killing them. With High Fantasy stories, it is more harder to affect such a thing when people can grow powerful enough to punch their problems away with power to almost move the universe. And besides, with mind magic not on the table, this is the best way to get back at your enemies. I enjoy it. It shows a lot of things I want to see: despair from the losses, the test of their ambitions, and the human nature of redirecting problems to others. It is an eye for an eye situation and Gabrian being the hypocrite and justifying his own actions the same way he call out Alex's actions, is quite the irony I enjoy. With traps, I think you done well. Practice makes perfect and while there are points where you could draw out the tension with bodies dropping before awareness of what was happening or the low hiss of the gas was the only sound to be heard other than Alex's baiting them. But that's for building tension and we are past that point. The readers long anticipate this and drawing it out more would end up as filler than actual progression to the story. The traps done their roles and I am satsify with the rapid reveal of traps to quick results where the Hidden Church suffer from the ongoing onslaught; it made the wait nice. I didn't expect the Stalker to be this happy with the push back, but maybe it is a Fae with different perspective for these kind of things. Look forward to more.

Your story makes me hate the weekend. Not cool man. Not cool. Lol. Loving these chapters!

Bender

Like the enemies after Indiana Jones....they can't survive the traps!

Lola

Hopefully, he waits until after the Stalker is dead or incapacitated before telling the enemy that information. I don’t want that fae lord to find out for sure that Uldar is dead and rush over to become a god. The faith in Uldar’s throne belongs to Hannah, or at least someone who wants to do good for Thameland.

Alex

He would never believe him, only showing a corpse can convince him of Uldar's death

MockingBird

I hope the first apostle dies after finding uldars corpse. And as satisfying as it would be to kill off the stalker, being bound to Alex as a slave would be so much sweetier. Great chapter. Love the traps. Can't wait for Alex to show his cards and fight without restrictions.

Steven Lamb

Past few chapters keep getting better and better

Bob Bryan

Alex definitely needs to tell the first apostle their God is dead and has been so for hundreds of years. Kind of wish Alex brought his head there but alas.

I can't wait to see the Stalker reaction to the unmaker

Stephen

Now I can’t wait until Tuesday! Hopefully the unmaker will come.

Sam

Wonder what the Stalker is up to? Maybe he'll disable some of the traps or something, but he seems to be enjoying the challenge.

The Immortal Orange

I find traps to be something that, as here, need to be manned in some way to be dynamic and interesting. But then again, I also graduated from the school of Tucker's Kobolds.

Obi-Wan-Sage

You could have fooled me. This chapter reads like you have a masters in laying traps!!!!

mhaj58

Oh when the unmaker comes at them

Zachary LaCount

Solid chapter
