Thanks for the chapter.

I liked most of the last chapters. There needs to be enough slice of life action and proper dialogue to ever realise the gains made in power-fantasy which is so far missing, but that's fine; it's an action sequence. For every big increase in power, aside from the action, there should be both a mundane demonstration of it, and some actual dialogue. Theresa needs a scene slicing apples for a pie, Brutus needs a cerebral upgrade if he's able to understand the innate one-ness of the universe, and honestly I'd have liked the Unmaker to acknowledge that Alex's girlfriend killed his prey before him. Asmareldre is a female name isn't it? "So you claim to be unmatched in battle but are bested by your mate before you could claim the kill? Well that is as things should be". I'd have expected a bit more understanding from an Unmaker for the effort Theresa put into the unmaking there, basically. I'm a dude so it's no sisterhood thing. I just think it'd be cool. The biggest debt built up with regard friendly out-of-action scenes so far is Grimloch. He deserves some serious acknowledgement, but also it needs to be addressed that he just ate a Fey older than Alex's nation. And has regularly been around Uldar's corpse and NOT licked it? And he practices lifeforce enhancement. He has to be able to digest some of that. I've enjoyed the action, but some dialogue and empire-building back in Generasi would be welcome. I'm most looking forward to seeing the reactions of the cast to the latest changes, and surely 9th tier lets you teach? Quite beyond the fact that Alex represents an almost limitless source of iteration for any form of research and learning? Even if the next story is a thousand planes away, at least it's realistic that a divinely inspired teleporting mage who grows at the pace of a weed, just might pop up. The ties to this story are pretty much the main hook for me to read the next to be honest.

Scott Emery

This was so much better than the previous chapters over the holidays.

Something like that would be more satisfying for me also. He left a journal, so likely he atleast believed somewhat in what he was doing.

Theory, Uldar was once a genuinely good person, but as a result of the battle with the original Ravener he was poisoned. In order to counteract the poison and save his life he decided to do something evil and create the Ravener Cycle to farm divinity to save his life, he always regretted it and felt guilt for it. But, he ultimately did what he needed to do to save his own life.

That would be an interesting twist. I've been under the assumption that he's always been a scheming god in secret. Doing acts of good to trick the people into worshiping him and then creating the Ravener to force the people to rely on him in the long run for protection during the cycles. As a hundred years is enough time for the newer generations to lose some of the faith their elders would have gained seeing themselves fight with their gods blessing to save their land

Boxed Thoughts

Questions to be unveiled and Grimloch's and Bjorgrund's new friendship is commemorated with Stalker''s antlers!

Time to find out how some important stuff. I'm kind of expecting this to be a FFX sin type of situation. Uldar took up the throne of the defeated Ravener, but in doing so it caused him to become the next Ravener. Maybe he made the system so that he'd never turn into it? Who knows. I'm eager to find out. Also, I hope Grimloch ate the other half of that fae.

So, we finally get to find out why the Ravener.

Woot back to the story

@Author- you really need to explore the collections option. You've but a single story so it might not matter- esp as it's final book; but...

Nice cliff! ty for sharing.

Uldar's Log. Stardate 3171.14. Dear diary.....

Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander

Nice wrap up… Uldar infodump will be nice and hopefully reuniting with Sister/Cabal/Heroes soon? Maybe even Daddy Baelin on a return tour from Space Vegas?

Hudson Hohimer

Woo! Called it!!! I am so pumped to figure out what happened to Uldar! I haven’t really bought the whole “selfish narcissistic diety who turned his homeland into a churning faith mill” idea so far. Too much doesn’t add up and there are parts of the faith, like approving of education, innovation, and literacy, that don’t make sense if the goal purely selfish. And yet something clearly happened to turn the country into that. So excited to find out the truth. Was Uldar a spiteful god? Were his good intentions twisted into something dark? I’m really excited to find out! Also, who tf killed him? If the Ravager didn’t know he was dead I don’t think this was a Skynet situation.

Obi-Wan-Sage

The tooth pick joke was nicely done ....and finally explanations.

Torasin

I love a good journal of an all-powerful being. Seems like this is gonna be a really interesting set of chapters.

Guess we can figure out what happened with Uldar and how he patched the mark
