Being mistaken for Baelin because of the scope, effectiveness, and sheer craziness of his magic is quite the achievement for a young arch wizard.

I wonder if generalising Alex's blood magic enforcement and spell formula learning will be used to agument the Thamis army? If the blood enforcement is used on animals are the results similar to the blood bond like Brutus has?

Aidan

Came here to say the same thing, these chapters feel more and more like half or quarter chapters.

Joshua Little

Thanks for the chapter.

Logan

Yeah, he’d probably invite her over for a little Netflix and chill action… maybe a threesome with that demon lady

SwiftFate

I wonder how Baelin would react to Asmaldestre.. She's kind of like the peak entity of her plane, so even for him she's likely no joke. But I get the feeling he'd have a thing for her. I ship it.

ItWasIDIO!!

We're in the Endgame now

Great chapter thanks

I think the Ravener is one of the best media monsters, ever. It's a basic enough concept on the surface alone—ancient evil that returns every hundred years to wreak havoc on the people of Thameland, yada yada—but it has a depth behind that that doesn't actually break any of the surface facts about it and actually answers the questions inherent in such a one-note villain, which is something that's devilishly hard to do. WHY does it get defeated every cycle, despite being up against a different set of heroes each time? They should be of varying competence, and thus some generations should stomp the ravener while others should get stomped, but no, actually—the Ravener is PROGRAMMED to fail, to put up a fight based on Thameland's capabilities each cycle and just barely lose. Why does it seemingly never go anywhere besides Thameland? Again, it's programmed not to. Why does it have such a wide variety of monsters, in some cases based on real-world animals that it has no actual obligation to emulate? Well, Uldar was something of an artist, it seems, and additionally it gives the Ravener an arsenal of specialized soldiers in case it ever truly needs to fight to keep its secrets safe. The entire dungeons-full-of-monsters convention that the Ravener normally follows is a deconstruction of itself *while still remaining perfectly plausible in-universe.* And all of this is backed up by the fact that eventually the kid gloves come OFF, and we see now in a truly visceral sense that the Ravener IS NOT like every other ancient evil. It's its own being, independent of tropes and cliches, that is still terrifying in all the movie-monster ways that it was, because it still has giant spiders and stuff to throw at you, but now it's scary in a bunch of new ways because IT CAN CHEAT. And beyond all that, which would certainly be enough by itself, we also get occasional views of the Ravener as a CHARACTER, as an inhuman AI with an entirely different value system to that of the reader but one which somehow still feels REAL, because the core of its struggle is so relatable: at a very deep level, it's trying to figure out what it is when its parent isn't watching (even if it doesn't realize that Uldar actually isn't watching until very recently). Sorry for the wall of text y'all, I just want to emphasize to U.J. and everyone else here that the Ravener is an absolute masterstroke and I love it.

Alex needs to create a shining beacon of the symbol of the General in the sky for the next big battle. It would be a huge moral boost to the soldiers fighting as well as a way to rapidly spread the the news that the Fool is now the General.

Code Reed

Probably not. It would make I'm practically unkillable combined with his blood magic and Mana manipulation skills. He'll pick it up after it's over so he can live as long as Teresa. Though, he'll probably give a way to make them, and most of his friends immortal in the end.

BelligerentGnu

It only just hit you *now*? Nine books in? O.o

Bender

Avengers assemble!

Kemizle

wonder if Alex will have any time to pick up life enforcement

Decide

This felt like a 1/4 of a chapter.

The heroes and the team are together again. I’m guessing next week will be the planning phase
